I’ve never seen anyone suggest that unlimited population growth is a good thing.
It depends who sets the limits. Generally when women have control over their bodies, this leads to a good outcome. Generally when limits are set by the state, or the patriarchy, it leads to a less good outcome.
There is a load of eco-fascist stuff around at the moment which is another one for the “are we frightened” thread.
I was thinking of the Zika thread a few years back, in which I and a few others said that it would probably be a good thing if global population growth could be flattened off, given the effects this is having on us, on the climate and on ecosystems, and the responses from several others ticked all the boxes I mentioned - accusations of "fascism", of being in favour of eugenics and/or genocide, all that stuff.
So if someone thinks any kind of population control is as bad as that, then they're in favour of unlimited growth, aren't they? I mean those are the two exhaustive alternatives.
I actually made the point that the absolutely key thing to limiting fertility in countries with extremely high population growth is educating girls, and got a barely-veiled accusation of racism for my troubles.
It was all a bit odd.
