I think up until very recently Undisputed Truth/Dubmugga/HellSD etc etc has been pretty well behaved! It was obvious who it was very quickly, (shades of Padraig) but these people in the main (when they aren't being deliberately fuckwit-ish) are entertaining and can be constructive, as long as they don't get all pointlessly vindictive and start killing threads dead with ad hominem "antics" of various descriptions...
But to pick up Undisputed Truth's point, its basically that the "tastemakers" (ugh, for wont of a better word...) within Dubstep are London-centric, which to him feels as if it excludes outsiders from making an impact. Its a valid argument to make, but I'm not sure how much evidence there is for that, given the international nature of the blogerati and the fact that new centres for the scene like Bristol (British, yes, but not London eh?) are opening up. A linked point is that at the moment there is a clear hierarchy within the scene as it stands, with a core of well established producers all with very clearly defined sounds in place. Is there a danger of stasis due to the very success of these people? Of course their own sounds are still evolving apace, but there is the sense that there is a clearly defined generation who are running tings. Will the next stylistic shift precipitate regime change, or does the global expansion give space for a broadening of the palette without inter-generational bloodshed?
