I can see why they want him back, but I'm not sure how good an idea it is. If he's willing to take a pay cut, plays well with the new squad and they can sell him for a decent amount whenever he decides to leave then it could be worthwhile, but there's a risk he sends the wage bill through the roof when they're trying to get their finances under control whilst destabilising the team.

That being said, the romantic in me would like to see him back at Barca.
It looks a bit like Ronaldo back to United doesn't it?
I think that you can't cross the same river twice - or even if you can you probably shouldn't.

I think Messi's better than Ronaldo, has a stronger connection to the club, doesn't have the same raging ego and I wouldn't be surprised to see him return and play like he'd never left, but there's also a sense that their moment's passed and it could be an awkward move for both parties.

He’s reaching a performance threshold of accelerating diminishing returns

Could picture a move back to Argentina, showboating in big derbies with flickers of the old skill. I think the fight is draining from him post WC and once you hid mid 30’s as a pro, the writing is on the wall

Once in a multiple-generational player. Defined low centre of gravity Barca alongside Xavi and Iniesta, with insane pass conjuring, total ball control and possession stats. The epilogue is slowly closing its veil and if I was his agent it’d be leading up calls to get him back to his homeland for one last soirée

Older players reappearing can be dislocating yet fun moments. Vieri was at the Milan game tonight and the closest I could get to naming him was a vague sense of Vvvvvv? Quality left foot remembered all too well

Match programs are another route in to “oh, that cunt”. Got stacks from Dad and uncles through to about ‘92, same with international rugby, might be time to sell
saw the hallowed name Lee Chapman the other day. That took me back.

There are lots of things that are different but it still falls into the same category, surely?
He probably would do ok, like better than a random new purchase they could make, but if I were him it wouldn't be how I'd want to finish, a pretty good addendum to a glittering career.
I guess they're champions, could challenge for CL... it would make the PSG move look like a bit of a pisstake, which is obviously a good thing.

Maybe even in the nineties he could still play for top team and they could carry him in the hope he did something magical every now and again, but now you simply can't do that, every player has to work when you haven't got the ball, and if you have a player who doesn't, any moment of magic he does produce is gonna be more than cancelled out by the goals conceded while he's walking slowly around with his hands on his hips 50m behind the action.

City or Madrid tonight? Not a fan of either, maybe a half decent game will unfold despite the cheating

Modric has a voice you don’t expect for a wee bloke, he can’t be far off calling it a day, in Glenn Hoddle voice a wonderful busy plyair

City. I can’t see RM shackling that acting five. I think for RM to win everyone has to have a stellar game whereas City don’t. Thought Walker was pretty much MotM last week along with KdB. Haaland was anonymous which means he’ll be on fire tonight.
Looking forward to it though. If RM do score first it really will be a test for City.

I don't know any streams. I haven't watched live football in ages. I have to make do with highlights on Reddit and YouTube atm.

I stopped bothering with streams after a while because they'd just buffer or get taken down and they were covered in dodgy ads.
