one thing about linebaugh that doesn't really come through in his presence via text here is how pissed off he normally looks irl. you'd think his inner monologue was just a constant stream of those abstract symbols they use to show swearing in cartoons. i think that's probably the key to him being the most successful artist this board has ever produced, a lot moreso than all the time he spent practicing or whatever.

@linebaugh Can you share with us your drawing routine? I am trying to establish a more regular habit... level up... get those 10000 hours, you know the grind... But if I use self-discipline, the right hemisphere of my brain goes into hiding... How do I unlock my creative energies and potentialities on a regular schedule?

It requires people giving you hundreds of dollars to do it

He won't share his secrets with us. He doesn't want us to succeed. He sees the world in zero sum terms. Sad

I think youve got to find what works for you. For me its a mix of lets call it appreciation and competetion. Looking at art that I really enjoy gets me excited to draw -seeing things that I could do myself , seeing whats possible- and then also seeing my peers make good work is how i get motivation. I think some people find power in a routine or have latent internal drive but that doesnt work for me.

One thing I find is that there is a going-over the original sketch that is very important

It's like editing in writing

No one writes anything very good their first go, but there's potential

And you go over it and over it adding details changing things adding symmetries and correlations between parts
