then theres that sense, and you get this with taylor swift too, that as a form of entertainment it has much more in common with teen dramas like saved by the bell, sabrina the teenage witch, my so called life, dawsons creek etc than it does with pop music proper

Newcleus - Computer Age ( Push The Button ) ( Club version )

this tune almost ticks all my boxes

starts off with echo and delay on the opening bars, "rim shot presets', sub kicks, gated reverb on the snare, intricate / syncopated hats, cosmic pad stabs, vocoder instructions
and a couple of minutes of acceptable electro funk bass but then

at 3:43

"PUSH THE BUTTON!"

Newcleus discover distortion and all hell breaks loose!

"WARNING!"

corrupted electro funk with wonky arpeggios, increasingly demanding vocoder intrusions, a bored stripper chorus interlude, then at 5:40 a caped wizard enters the fray and performs pitch bend Magick

plus it it is on Sunnyview, one of a myriad of labels run by Henry Stone, a guy I've been doing research on due to his role in the origins of Miami Bass and cocaine culture ( one of his lieutenants was KC from the Sunshine Band so I can make connections to the Liverpool illuminati / Probe records / Dead Or Alive / Pete Burns / Bill Drummond / Courtney NEXUS etc., ). ( this would have been a portion of one of the posts in the 'music of the illuminati study group" thread if my hard drive hadn't been irradiated by the secret forces and as a result I lost all my notes)

edit: an example of the tune in action, LA Bopping Crew members OG Scorpio and Sensei Bop animate, pop and lock, and bop to Newcleus
at the Poppers picnic 2022

Poppers picnic 2022

offscreen "The Formless Form", decked in a bandana and stove pipe top hat, glares at scorpio because he knows his moves don't match either of these guys, Sensei Bop takes a solo during the distorted "warning" breaks before OG Scorpio jumps back in and steals the show for a minute or two but then Tick A Lott from the LA bopping crew takes over from scorpio, and "The Formless form"continues to glare and Flat Top offers encouragement and I'm thinking Tick A Lott might have won this battle if it was actually a contest..and then "The Formless form' even cracks a smile so you know tick A Lott is doing something right ( can anyone ID the tune Tick a Lott is performing to though?, thanks in advance )

edit: all my life I've been promised a future which never arrived, 'where's my jetpack?!!!!"

Never had that 12, but I wore out that album back in the day.
Er, not saying I wore it as a clothing accessory if that's not clear...

no, I was thinking you laid the vinyl out on the sidewalk and:

FREEZE!

Spun on your back!
spun on your knees!
Spun on your hands and

FREEZE!

ELECTRIC BOOGIE!

FREEZE!

BREAKDANCE!

West Street Mob– Break Dance - Electric Boogie

WORK THAT BODY!
