It's funny, I don't really like talking on the phone but @catalog's warm Lancashire tone broke my resistance. And yeah I'm lying, obviously he never said that about MB.

Like this guy who used to be in my five-a-side team who had such a thick Newcastle accent that everyone called him Geordie - but when he went back home all his mates were saying "Howay lad why you talkin like a soft southern shite?"

I recently learned Mao had an incredibly thick rural accent and a lot of Chinese people can't understand his speech. The comments under this clip are filled with Chinese people saying they've no clue what he's saying.

It's essentially the same story, but a bit richer as he expanded it and less irritating as you don't have to deal with his casting decisions and style of filmmaking. It's not just a script or film treatment. It started as a poem then he did the film and novel at the same time.
