I didn't say it was the government's fault a crackhead smokes crack--I said it's the government's fault black people live in ghettoes.

"Well, that's what I eaern, and I've got a degree!"
What do you do for a living Vimothy? I know it's an aside but I'm interested to find out what job is in accordance with your beliefs and pays only five-hundred pounds a month.
You asked me a minute ago why I'm not rich - why aren't you? Are you saying you're lacking in ability? Your talents are only worth six grand a year?

My own lack of success? I make literally 5 times what you make, based on what you just said. I'd say I'm pretty damn successful.

The drug problem in American ghettoes started WAAAAY before 1964. That's the most hilarious thing I've ever heard.

Ahh, misunderstood your "1%" thing.

Sure, most people are 'able-bodied' in the widest sense, but even within that there's a huge natural range of intelligence, aptitude and fitness. Some of which is (genetically) hereditary, some due to upbringing, some simply random.

£1000 after tax. £16-17k

It's not unfair, it's just fucking tough. I'll earn more when I get a better job, probably after I go back to uni to do another, slightly less pointless degree.

Are you seriously suggesting that Chinese economic reform is a misnomer and that the Chinese education system is responsible? Were the timing of DXP's reforms a coincidence then?

I am aware of the chinese economic reforms, and i admire them (i'm in fact quite fond of markets in certain circumstances), but they worked on the basis of other structures like stable goverment, somewhat of a seperation between the economy and the legal system, a critical mass of educated people and so on, all of which came about with markets..

I don't need a Marxist inspired run-down of the history of the west.

AKA, the truth hurts?

According to your own logic, Vimothy, you're either stupid or lazy.

I grew up poor, and I'm already making more than my parents combined. Looks like I'm just a lot smarter than you, based on this meritocracy business.

That's a lie as well.

Not the crack problem, the collapse of the ghettos.

& post xtian guilt. I don't care what you do for a living or how much you make. It's really non of my fucking business. (Though it is a bit funny - given that I'm arguing in favour of your having more money than me. Do you deserve your income and wealth?)

Vimothy, you need to read a lot more about the American free market by Americans.

I can't think of a single American libertarian who would say that the ghetto wasn't created by American governing policies or that America is a "meritocracy."

Have you ever listened to Bill Maher, for Christ's sake?

Come on, that's complete arse. In that case, everyone from a family with a socio-economic situation similar to mine when I was groing up would have the same intelligence as me, to within 1 IQ point!

didn't 1% refer to the proportion of people with severe impairments?

do you have an iq of ~100?

Ah ok, you've changed it from dollars to pounds.
What do you do for a living?
What was your degree in?
How do you plan to afford another degree?

I don't feel "guilty" about anything. I think it's fucking tragic that I got to get into college because my parents had MARGINALLY better credit than the minimum necessary while another kid who is probably smarter than me from Bed-Stuy didn't because she had no father on her birth certificate.

I don't feel guilty at all, but I do want this to change, and I'd love to help make it change.

Ghettoes collapsed WAAAY before 1964. I'd just love to hear your explanation for why ghettoes exist. It'd be good for a laugh.

so according to your assumptions about our meritocratic society, you must lack any relevant skills and/or be well fucking lazy?

This is getting daft.

Am I lazy? Obviously not I've got a fucking job.

Am I stupid? Maybe, maybe not.

Do I lack the right skills to be earning millions in the City? Sadly, yes.

Too bad. My earning potential is huge. I already know I'll be making twice what I am now within 5 years, easily.

Sucks to be you.
