the only attempt I've seen to explain any of the demographic gains extrapolating from actual data rather than hot take conjecture is the idea that later-generation Latino voters are more likely to become more conservative as they assimilate, and specifically to place less value on immigration. which would make sense, and jives with my own anecdotal observation of tension between citizens and recent immigrants in Hispanic communities, but idk how true it is or isn't.

you can't really start dissecting an election the day after. it takes months - at least - to figure out what happened in detail.

should also keep in mind that the Democrats still overwhelmingly won every POC demographic

so Dem establishment should be worried, and look closely into what the hell happened, but it's also not like the sky is falling

yeah, Michigan called for biden, think he's up to 253 (without Arizona and Nevada). if he gets AZ and NV, which seems likely, he won't need Pennsylvania to get to 270.

also, RE: Trump gains...sure, but biden on track to get the highest popular vote total ever.

What is the idea of the Trump family all claiming that they've won Pennsylvania when everyone can check and see it's not declared? What do they hope to achieve with that? It's not like they can trick people into voting or not voting or something.

trump's campaign has filed two lawsuits in Pennsylvania, one saying they should stop counting votes and the other saying they should count them faster. it's the trump way.

Biden's got Wisconsin now. Republicans immediately demanding a recount, obviously.
But -
Ali Velshi, explaining the recount rules for Wisconsin said "You have to pay for the recount up front, which with President Trump is an issue"
Anyway, they have recounted twice before in Wisconsin and the biggest change was around 300 votes, it seems unlikely that a recount will erode Biden's lead of around 20k.

trying to influence public opinion, as the door closes on them elsewhere
yeah, it's all upthread, Trump had been setting it up for weeks, pulled the trigger on it last night, now they're all following thru

maybe talking about it enough influences the SC, both to get involved, and individual justices

it's a low-percentage play but it's also low-risk, high-reward. can't hurt, might help, and if you don't give a shit about responsibility, decorum, etc there's no reason not to.

and even if he does ultimately lose, concede, and leave office, it's still setting him and them up to remain in the public eye

whether that's to remain in politics, simply make $, or more likely both since those things go hand-in-hand

He's demanding they stop counting in Penn where he's ahead (but narrowing) and that they count every last vote in AZ where he's behind. Will this shameless opportunism hinder any court cases he brings? I mean if they can see him arguing both sides of the same issue in different places doesn't that make it clear he's not acting in good faith?

I guess it doesn't cost them anything (except any last vestiges of integrity obviously).

So what have they called that AP haven't?
Anyway... "Fox News cuts away from the Trump campaign press conference in PA to call Michigan for Biden" which is beautiful.

nice to hear someone sound reassuring, positive, like an adult. almost presidential, dare I say...
