Who loves ya, baby?
I love Badlands but everything else I've seen. . . . There's this clunky earnestness to him that's just groan-inducing plus he insists on having everyone whisper at all times whilst spending most of the film offering close-ups of blades of grass and sunlight. It's all a bit much.

Apparently his latest is based on the true story of an Austrian man who refused to fight for the Nazis and it looks as you'd expect it to; lots of pretty shots of fields and mountains, wonky camera angles and whatnot:

Anybody willing to stick up for the later stuff? The Tree of Life was a film I sat through with a pained expression and of which I could only really shrug and make noises when asked about.
