Guess people already know about this one from last year, I only found out about it via the new French Montana tape "Coke Boys 4" this week. Beat is

Krept & Konan joining Coke Boys might have single-handedly reinforced my belief in atheism, because no god wants humanity to suffer this badly.

Why's that?

Because just like their US counterparts Herb and Bibby, they are generic nothing trend chasing dorks who force me to grind my teeth to pulp. French already has more than enough terrible rappers at his beckon, he really needed to sign them?

WHEN LIL DURK'S GENERIC MEEK MILL IMPERSONATION VERSES DISPLAY THE BEST RAPPING IN A CREW, YOU KNOW IT'S A DROUGHT.

Edit: Assuming he's signed them, and not just running with their single for a lark.

I don't listen to coke boys stuff for good rapping.

can't c/s this enuff, frenches lyrics r laughable at the best of times n i dnt fuck with chinx too tough even though he's a step up in the bars department, but song wise they make bangers, whats wrong with making bangers?

n no krept n konan aint signed to coke boyz

Bangers is one thing, but K&K represent the worst sort of trends in rap... Really tediously dull 'rapper rappers' who don't do anything new, they just float in generic flows into a pre-existing genre and using a combination of 'tough guy' approach and internet savvy, work it into a full on career.

It's bad enough when it's 40 year old real estate brokers like LEP Bogus Boys playing weekend warrior rap, we don't need this generic filler rap from guys who, when Road Rap were blowing up, WERE TOO BUSY TRYING TO BE GRIME RAPPERS.

Furthermore, fuck those two, bring back Cadet.

was tlkn about coke boyz in regards to bangers.

ur being abit harsh on k and k they aren't really trend jumpers like that, their first proper mixtape had a healthy amount of grime and rap, and the flows were all over the place, was v good. ye theyve dumbed it down abit now but thats what everyone does when they wanna get signed cant really blame em.

Been watching Top Boy this week and it made me realise that the style of road rap is a natural extension of how people talk in London. I wonder if its also to do with a particular area of London - Top Boy is set in East but a lot of road rap comes from South, right? Luka saying a lot of UK hip hop MCs come from north London the other day got me thinking. Anyway this is all stuff that an outsider to London like me is not aware of and reminds me that in listening to any rap music I'm missing nuances upon nuances.

I thought it was because of the influence of jeezy/rick Ross etc which is obviously there since they use trap beats but actually I feel like trap beats have caught on in ldn rap due to how well they fit with that London way of speaking.

As a writer about rap music it has weirdly not occurred to me how the way ppl talk in a region must feed into how they rap. Rap technique is often viewed as something that's developed entirely consciously, like its been drawn up diagrammatically. It would be interesting to compare rappers flows to how they speak conversationally.
