in high school, i posted this opening scene on twitter, back when my mom followed me, and she then texted me to tell me that i should know the people in goodfellas and sopranos are bad people.... waboohoo

All of those 70s guys were insane film nerds, especially Scorsese and I get the impression even more especially Peter Bogdanovic. I kinda wonder if they remember the minutiae of film noir now.... also, now this links to the psychoanalysis thread cos of Bogdanovic's role in SopranosI bet you he knows more about Film Noir than me.

Bogdanovich apparently pissed a bunch of people off referring to his own films like he was going around mastering other people's styles. He'd refer to "my Ford picture", "my Welles picture", etc.
I watched a clip from it the other day and every single shot in this little montage had a sort of zoomy swipey camera move, it was like he couldn't let himself not have a shot with some little woosh thing in it to communicate "this is energetic and coked up"I dont think so. the entire movie is like the first 15 minutes of goodfellas, an introductory montage but for 3 hours.
Put the aviator on Friday night cos I wanted something like wolf of wall street, but not that. Disappointing, but only watched 30 mins. Films about films notoriously don't work well.
Unlikely that @catalog will ever recover from thisThe Aviator isn't about films.
