    chris morris new series stuff

Yeah I always assumed Sugar Ape was Vice and the "Vice" issue pretty much confirmed that. Dazed is a whole lot more girly and imo actually pretty good at face value. (Not that Vice doesn't have its thought provoking or worthwhile moments, but that's for another thread innit.)

    The Record Industry's Decline

I'm trying desperately not to go on a rant at the over-the-top commentary on being a "TRUE" music fan and 128kpbs mp3s killing music in this thread... its difficult. Why is it that discussion about The Record Industry's Decline tend to veer towards horrendous music snobbery and audiophilia...

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

Oh okay. To be honest I can't remember hearing much more about it than that... A quick google turns up nothing related so I wouldn't be surprised if its just Popbitch gossip. (Still not a fan of Daft Punk though - maybe its the overplaying of One More Time on CBBC that's done it!)

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

Take it with a pinch of salt, but there are persistent rumours that they didn't turn up for a selection of lives shows last summer.

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

Considering that kind of praise, I'll endeavour to see them again soon.

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

Oh yeah, dunno why I left them out. Saw them spin records a few months back, but the set was very student orientated and left me feeling like I'd wondered into Ramshakle (Carling academy's evening of "Stompin' indie and funky shit") or something. They were playing Leeds student union though to...

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

Forget all the naysayers in the "blog house" thread - this is exactly the situation which Hype Machine was made for! Just stick the player on this page and see what you think...

    Efdemin.

I was listening to Ivan Smagghe and Chloe's The Dysfunctional Family for the first time in a while the other day... that's about as goth-a-techno as I have ever heard. I've not really thought of it in common with the Efdemin end of things, but if you like the idea of a goth vibe in dance music...

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

I think I said up thread that I prefer their LP to the Justice one. The more indie sounding tracks with vocals work pretty well in the LP context I think. There seem to be a fair few UK representatives emerging as well. I'm thinking mainly of Kissy Sell Out, Filthy Dukes and Switch. There are...

Efdemin is good... on that kinda tip I've been liking Serafin as well.

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

Yeah, you're probably right. I was just posting rubbish to try and justify my apathy towards Daft Punk I guess.

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

Okay I take some of that back. They owe as much to Oizo as to Daft Punk. Re-listening to Superheros and Aerodynamic I realize perhaps my perspective of Daft Punk is slightly skewed by the much overplayed CBBC type tunes that litter their LPs.

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

I'm not really a big fan of the Daft Punk comparisons. Superficially the fact that they are French and have that Retro-Future kind of aesthetic makes them comparable, but beyond that I see few similarities. I find many Daft Punk records fairly structureless, which is quite a contrast to the rock...

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

Ah yeah, I forgot about Stress. Saw The Glimmers drop that one on Saturday, without knowing it was Justice... place went mad. Hadn't really paid much attention to Surkin, but just checked them out on Hype Machine. Nice. I'm not sure how much room for manoeuvre there is within this sound to be...

    Dizzee Rascal- Maths and English

I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but I really like the reviews section of Heat. It's just brutally honest about things. Their Dizzee review is on the money. Every so often they throw up a few surprises, like a foreign film getting a big review feature. All the while in a magazine which...

The Justice LP and Ed Banger Records

I've always thought of this stuff, as nu-rave. I mean they share bills with Simian Mobile Disco, Boys Noize, Digitalism, Klaxons, Erol, Glimmers etc... Ed Banger and Maison Kitsune are pretty much the scene. I have to say I'm not a big fan of Justice themselves. The new album is very very samey...

Have you ever heard something so good it made you cry?

Just be happy you're not in the UK where we're subjected to "I Got Life" on a Yoghurt advert! Sickening!

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

The full set is up already over on RWD. I haven't heard it myself, but I'll be putting it on my mp3 for the day's travelling. ...well at least someone else laughed!

    Dizzee Rascal- Maths and English

quality documentary wasn't it gumdrops? beat the hell out of the bob marley one on the otherside in the slot before. dizzee really is very wise. it was good to see a musician humble enough to talk about the importance of learning, and relationships in making music. he seems to have extreme...
