    plastician - beg to differ

fwiw I saw him play a Grime and Dubstep night not *that* long ago and it was back-to-back grime vox and instrumentals, with a couple of big dubstep tunes thrown in. that wasn't at fwd though, so perhaps the dubstep thing is crowd dependant, as gumdrops suggests.

    The Klaxons

...and they kept saying "we make forward music" to jo wiley. argh makes me wanna smash up my tv!! I don't understand how they could give the prize to Klaxons this year, but not to Hot Chip, who were against a much weaker crowd, last year. on the strength of tonight's performances I'd say the...

    Minimal house anthems

Has anyone mentioned Claude von Stroke's Who's Afraid of Detroit? yet? Or better yet the Tanner Ross remix of said track... not sure how old it is but its crazy good. I've heard people speak highly of Claude's tracks and haven't got into them all that much myself. This one might make me take a...

new rock bands that don't suck

Another vote here for Bardo Pond as worst live band ever. I actually had to go and sit outside the venue for the duration of the set - first and last time that's ever happened. On the recommendations tips I thoroughly enjoyed Late of the Piers set at Field Day at the weekend. Check out the...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

On first listen the Tinchy album is good. For me at least as good as Dizzee's. The whole package is pretty professional. Hope it does well for him. My favourite Tinchy track of the moment isn't on there though! (can't remember what its called, but its on that Roll Deep show where Stageshow...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

The Simpsons Movie, best blockbuster flick I've seen so far this summer. Ghibli's Tales from Earthsea was pretty crap, bar the lovely background artwork, with a terrible translation and dub. To be honest I doubt the translation was the only problem with the storyline, as it seemed very confused...

    Minimal house anthems

And there I was thinking a Sunday all-dayer in the West Midland's sunshine was hardcore, haha. Saw Sebo K and a selection of Mobilee djs drop some crisp minimal, not one tune of which I knew but it all sounded very suitable for the summer. Ben Klock's RA podcast is a bit nice isn't it?

    1Xtra changes

ooops. silly me. :D in which case hopefully they'll just attract plenty of new listeners to 1xtra. 6Music is a total mess. As you say, they might a well stick a hipster's i-tunes on party shuffle and just let it play. Yeah, I agree with you on the selection of early evening shows. Colin...

    what are you reading now?

Just finished Miranda July's book of short stories No One Belongs Here More Than You. Started off thinking them sort of contrived in their fey-ness but by the end I was convinced that the quirks are all quite genuine. The stories all deal in observation rather than emotion, which makes it read...

    1Xtra changes

These moves worry me a bit, in the sense that I hope it doesn't become a trend. Westwood and Trevor Nelson present probably the most popular "black music" shows on Radio 1. To me, their move from R1 to R1X could present a shift in the R1 specialist show content from a currently healthy mix, to...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Worth a look if you've got a spare half hour. You'll prob not hear anything new if you're a bit of a grime fan, but interesting still.

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Saw Tinchy's new single on MTV Base this afternoon. Certainly the best attempt at a Grime video I've seen, Dizzee aside. Big look getting on MTV too, given that the quality control tends to be that much higher than Channel U. Just waiting for the album to actually drop now...

Big Brother: breaking news, lies, gossip, slander, etc.

I only lost interest in the last couple of years really. Caught a couple of the early shows this series, but having missed a week I suddenly didn't recognise the majority of people in there. They seem to be adding and getting rid of people at a rate of knots. I think the show really took a...

    Minimal house anthems

Do you ever get in the mood where pretty much any minimal tune sounds like the best thing ever (and I'm not talking a chemical induced state here). This evening I'm loving: Argy - Love Dose (Luciano Remix) Agnes - Controversial Advantage (Ripperton Remix) and Pikaya - Fango I'm not sure...

    Daft Punk's Electroma

Went to see Daft Punk's new movie Electroma yesterday evening. I wouldn't count myself as a fan of Daft Punk in any way, shape or form (apart from that wicked coffee table they did for Habitat) and only saw the movie because it wasn't Harry Potter, Die Hard or Shrek. I was pleasantly surprised...
