vol 1 was 90% incredible imo. juke is pretty raw/rough around the edges so some of it will of course, once the 'newness' of it has died down, maybe cause some ppl to wonder what all the fuss was about, but the first bangs and works still has a lot of incredible tracks. rp boo's eraser is still...

i dont know. but they seem a bit more... brostep-friendly this time? ie more jagged, caustic, harsher in general. i will prob like vol 1 more cos i already know what nuum stuff sounds like.

i think woebot was mostly right about that, and about how its almost pointless judging things as we used to, as 'the conditions have changed' so much. yeah theres still a rep to get from being a great mc or producer, but considering how money minded/aware of commercial demands a lot of music has...

    Juke

thoughts on the new bangs and works? ive not heard it fully, but it doesnt really hit me like the last one did. even taking into account how diverse the scene is, it doesnt sound as footworky as i expected. one or two tracks sound quite a bit like grime and dubstep too, which was pretty weird...

Critical Beats #1: Sound, Technology & Microgenres [LDN]

ha. i was actually being half serious. ive been going to quite a few talks and debates recently and i would like to see them be less - for lack of a better word - 'reasonable'. there needs to be a uk bass paxman. :p

Critical Beats #1: Sound, Technology & Microgenres [LDN]

enjoyed this. reminded me of a lot of dissensus discussions. though more calm and level. the weird thing was after reading similar debates so much on the web, eg- the rolling post dubstep thread on here, im not sure there was much new to say, even though it was cool hearing little details from...

yeah as ive prob repeated already (this thread is weirdly comforting every time i come back to it), you know rinse (and the scene too of course, like it or not) has changed when geeneus says that the trendy thing is more interesting than whats coming from 'the streets'. its cool the road rap...

    Funky/London/UK House

i cant find the house 2011 post anymore - guessing its gone - but theres a tune i heard on live that might be an old one. its an american house track, and has a guy speaking about a kids balloon in it, in that typical chicago house spoken word style. anyone have an idea what it is? i really like it.
