i really wanted to see the thundercrack screening last week but it was totally sold out. saw the Female Convict #701 trilogy at the weekend which was actually really brilliant. last one was actually the most artsy and the actress playing the lead def helped take it way beyond straight up female...

the rich have feelings too. anyway, i think TOL is saying that they are about to get wiped out by the rest of mankind like the dinosaurs. this is obv why jurassic park is getting rereleased. in the future we will resurrect the rich in theme parks for our amusement.

seems like a lot of places charge space hire though, or you have to reach a certain sales level on the bar, so thats on top of the rights etc. im going to have to get hardcore with the negotiation.

i def wanna see more rinse dream films. cafe flesh is amazing. i would type more but i have told myself to spend less time checking msg boards. liquid sky is just plain bad - poor script, ropey acting, and so on. ive never been totally into the affection for 'bad films' though so if you like...

i loved degenerate and although yeah as the person a few posts up said this is more openly derivative than that, prob cos of the era/style he is homaging is totally my thing, im more forgiving. i suppose it would have been cool to get a vexd-style take on the more sources you can hear here. but...

not out yet but im really looking forward to drive does seem a bit contrived in how cool it wants to be BUT it looks good anyway some of it reminds me in places of crash and several other 80s films though im drawing a blank as to which specificaly

ok i am going to do this. i did think of hiring the roxy but i think their space is too big for me just now. might have to do it somewhere else. did think of a pub as this is what a lot of people seem to do but id rather do it somewhere thats a bit more focused, not so noisy. i know some venues...

    what are you reading now?

i loved freedom - very enjoyable, written with a lot of flair and elan, intelligent, smart etc, esp in the way as someone else posted, how it connects the personal to the global/corporate, but the corrections is better, features some of the same sorts of themes (corporations vs people, family vs...

that would b the point where they bring in a token 'music of white origin' award :p but yeah, i dont know. the whole thing is messy. but then 1xtra gets to play things like ndubz as 'black music' so i dont know. its very tricky in 2011. its not like 1974 where theres an easier distinction to make.

Essentialism in Art & Music, Authenticity

but its music, and its hip hop. its not like films, where directors can hide behind their scripts and characters that act out their beliefs and values and opinions, they have to BE that person, otherwise its just fake. i think theres much more expectation in music in general for artists to be...

it seems putting on screenings from dvds is okay now, the bigscreen is what truly seems to count (though i love prints, personally). went to a cig burns event at pcc the other week and both films were straight off dvd, to the point where - and youd think they would try and hide this at least)...

Essentialism in Art & Music, Authenticity

yeah absolutely a lot of rappers personas have been bogus (not that it matters necessarily - not sure why rappers are so obsessed with calling other rappers out for not being 'real', not sure why i should care about that as a fan exactly apart - do i need to only listen to those with criminal...

Essentialism in Art & Music, Authenticity

actually i think with ross you know hes not real but he delivers such a compelling fantasy you dont really care - its so well executed and put together that with ross its more about him making good songs/albums and having a great presence/image/persona than one thats grounded in 'authenticity'...

like cigarette burns or midnight movies or one of those. how easy is it to do? can you expect to break even or is it a total loss making venture? are hire costs set in stone or do venues negotiate? anyone here ever been part of a film club?

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

the name is just a cop out, same as the awards. wants to pussyfoot around its whole concept, rather than just come out and say it flat out. they thought they were being smart or diplomatic even, trying not to offend anyone. some people are still weird when you say 'black music', hence why we...
