    the rap canon needs rewriting

scenario could never be overrated. neither the lp version or the remix. lons were a singles/individual tracks group. neither of their albums is that amazing. funkmaster flex's nothing but flavour with charlee brown is sort of underrated.

de la soul fell off after the 3rd album btw. stakes is high had a few good ones but mostly really limp beats, and everything after that has been diminishing returns (few good songs like trying people here and there though). never been the same since prince paul got sacked. and love movement is...

never got the tribe haters either. even if you dont like mellower rap, their drums were always hard. and even then, low end theory is like the album even tribe haters should like. scenario anyone? gang starr fell off after hard to earn though. moment of truth was pretty crap, the ownerz was...

    the rap canon needs rewriting

i dont listen to it that much but wu tang forever is underrated. its also a bit boring and sluggish and sort of bloated but i like that about it. triumph is still anti climatic though. waiting for the new wu single then hearing how plodding it was was a big dissappointment. criminology? verbal...

    the rap canon needs rewriting

anyway best rap album of all time, ever, EVER is saafir's boxcar sessions. forget illmatic. cant believe luka doesnt like epmd. first and 2nd album are just all time classic for me. its my thing = perfection. and critical beatdown is also immortal. i did for a long time think rakim was quite...

all of them? theyre ALL boring? yeah it gets a bit boring seeing PE's nation... at the top of every one of these lists but i mean, its still a great album. you see it in the list, and think yawn, but then you put it on, and think, fuck, this is actually still fucking good. same with illmatic...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

days of heaven. like a teenage fantasist bonnie and clyde. saw badlands too but that sort of american history tale thing doesnt do much for me. also frankenhooker - brilliantly twisted late 80s like a b-movie weird science.

    Kuedo

they should have made it cloud streaming only, or developed new technology esp for this release lol

films you've seen recently and would NOT recommend

saw the last star trek last night on ch4. the one from 2009. bit ho hum. im not a big trekkie and i give jj abrams credit for not going full throttle cgi but it was really quite unexciting. and i know its a beginnings film, but they all looked too young. kirk esp, who was just your typical over...

You Know It's a Good Film When (The Sequel)

watch rodger dodger and adventureland: he plays a teen boy totally unlike your standard mainstream hollywood depiction (think: the depressingly dire shia lebouf). actually hes quite good in zombieland doing something similar there too. squid and the whale is amazing though, agreed.

rolling back to the future garage/post-dubstep/alt-funkstep/intelli-2step etc thread

sullys album is seriously seriously good. ties together a lot of the things ive liked recently, but without ever making it seem token or forced - a bit of juke, a bit of anti g, even some stuff thats a bit like kuedo. and really good bass. i said it ages ago so prob repeating myself (AGAIN) but...

    Record storage options

im thinking of getting some shelves made by a local place. hopefully it will be cheaper than the places mentioned, and i can just glue the shelving together myself. though i do sometimes look at my records lying around and wonder why on earth i still have them. well until i play them that is.

    Kuedo

this, for me at least, is exactly why i keep returning to it. and im yet to get bored of it actually. the trap rap influence is there, but the synths are what steer the album really, its never rhythmically weak like a lot of post dubstep (far as i know, hes not even listening to dubstep...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

seems a bit sad that drive seems to be out to recreate bygone 80s/90s 'cool', its like its desperate to be a cult fave, but ill reserve judgement til i see it. i wont go so far as to say gosling can do no wrong (i did not like blue valentine) but hes good in crazy stupid love. and i like any...
