Modern d'n'b is rubbish - tune ID and a moan from an old man

Disco Dodo, by lynx, i'm a bit behind the times as i'm sure people will have heard this one but it really is something different in terms of sound/rhythm/structure , at last , i agree there's so much rubbish d'n'b around though it's hard to find the good stuff. Alot of this stuff on Melting...

    Obscure Proxy Servers

i doubt VNC would be allowed through the firewall, probably the easiest way would be Logmein but i guess that costs, it uses whatever internet connection is at hand. At our work people using sites to bypass the filters have actually been picked up and reported. They can tell your doing it so...

clark, electronicat + khan tonight (15th feb) elephant & castle

that was fun, especially the absinthe, first time i've really heard the main room sound sweet , when clark was playing anyhow,he's not a performer really, it was like start this, stop that, next tune, shame to have missed your set bunnyhausen, the music afterwards was crrrap.

In the UK, dance music gets faster the further north you go...

Hang on ! what about Wrongmusic of Brighton, current home of all things mentalist known for breaking the 200bpm barrier. This idea of Bristol being all down tempo  I think the journo is not letting the facts get in the way of a good story.

    explain music now

in a broader context, music is anything sonic and all the better for it. I'm so bored, over the years, with this "it's not music" cry. Who cares if it's 'music' as you understand it, it's some kind of performance/artistic expression mediated through sound, get over it people.

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Highly recommended , as Howard Jacobson wrote over the weekend concerning Dostoyevsky if a book is a 'good read' it's probably not worth reading. This is film is not a 'good read' in any sense but it is highly crafted and includes a stunning central performance from Anamaria Marinca.

    Club UK - Final Frontier - Wandsworth/London

IIRC that gangland landrover killing in Essex was connected with the dealers who supplied drugs to this club. I'm sure a big criminal fraternity held sway over the whole thing.

    Dubstep

Anyone hear Hadouken last night taking over an episode of the Zane Lowe show. I haven't listened to radio 1 for ages but it was great getting them to air WTF they wanted. Anyhow they were inthrall to Joker & Wiley. I find all those grime records a bit a daft if not live really but the dubstep...

    henri chopin RIP

I had the pleasure of seeing him live (in a wheelchair) at the museum of garden history, still going for it a few year ago. Top geeza. It always amused me that the sound poetry show on resonancefm really quite shocked people. It touches a raw nerve if you don't know where these artists are...

    NYE in London

i'd be very suprised if there was good squat do this year. Given the level of violence & police hassle at a big one b4 xmas who'd be mug enough to get involved? Sad, but times change. I stand to be corrected on new year's day ;)

I never use it, perhaps it was useful for a second in '95. Electronica seems a better term which is a clearer 'middle class' statement without the 'intelligent' insult. Hearing Shackleton last night isn't that just 'electronica' nowt to do with london /dubstep/rave as far as i can hear. I was...

    MIA - kala

i went unexpectedly to the Coronet show, yes it rocked, i wasn't a huge fan of the album but it all sounded much better live with a crowd. Santogold was also really ace. It does make you wonder why there aren't any other big UK mc's, i mean even the male ones have one a bit quiet! there is...
