    Dubstep

Interesting post, when i go to DMZ and it's really mental it's like a big 'london' party. That's how i feel, it's stretches back to rave,d'n'b, tekno & dub. The music seems a celebration of all the good stuff to have come out of the city which is why everyone's feeling it. Maybe that doesn't...

    cycling to work in London

After cycling for a few years in an urban environment you learn a kind of 6th sense of awareness. I used to go really fast all the time. Now I realise where the danger points are and can read them and know where to slow. Anyone starting cycling in London should ride for an hour with an...

    YouTube video finds

Amazing guy, funniest UK DJ by a mile. He has zero dress style, looks like he's just stepped out of his accountancy day job and done an E for the first time. :D

    My Bloody Valentine thread

That's a great photo, it really took me back to Leicester Poly '91 where I last saw them, the total white out at the end went on for about 10mins. They really defined what loud was for me, the boundary point. Not into seeing them again. Listening back Loveless is nowhere as good as people...

    Origins of Goth

You could do worse than listen to this Some grils wander by mistake by the sisters. In purely historical terms Bauhaus in the UK were the first band with a hit, don't forget they were from Northampton but it really grew out of elements of the post-punk and metal/rock scene. There was...

Dj Blip > Rustie meets Steinski meets Rotator meets Viktor Vaughn meets Darkstar

Dj /rupture _ Descarriada (Rotator remix) (Broklyn Beats) Not heard this for a while, it's still a classic, enjoying the mix. likin the mix , just the right amount of wonky 'live' mixing and tight edits.

    gilles peterson

I got hold of a 'Jazz' compilation he did , it's all a bit lukewarm to be honest. His TalkinLoud label have released a right load of balls. But he's certainly put UK jazz on the map again. I'd like to go to one of his jazz parties just see what people do to these old 60s records, dunno where he...

    Dubstep

Heard Fabric was busy, The Bomb Squad thing / DMZ on saturday was busy then went really quiet, it was like Loefah vs Skream playing to about 30 of us :slanted: brilliant set anyhow, eclectic and intense. Sounds really heavy at 3rd base, it's the DMZ sound. Mala played that funny old Count...

    Robert Rauschenberg RIP

Just saw this, a giant of American art. Always found him very inspiring when I was younger. I always saw his 'combine' , that of the cultural 'flatbed' work , as predating collage and sampling that followed in music.

    Amps for DJs

Depends how much you want to spend. Hafler or Bryston are serious studio amps and will last you forever. Otherwise you'll probably be offered stuff like Samson.
