    Michael Pogo Kreiner - 'E-Magic Flute' (2006)

I ended up downloading this, per your recommendation, and decided... it's a bit weird. It's fairly well balanced, not too many strings, the beats aren't overwhelming, obviously some very talented individuals... doesn't get into my guts though, which is why I don't love classical music I...

    Deleting membership

Why do all the cool folks gotta go and delete themselves? Jaie, I really enjoyed your posts on the black roots - white fruit thread. Totally out of nowhere but very on point. Anyone heard from nomad? Zhao?

GAS - mike ink, wolfgang voight etc..

Have to totally disagree on this... 2005 & 2007 at least have an incredible emotional resonance and depth of feeling, for me at least. Great tunes, great organisation, great mixes. Perfect late night music, with an almost rural sense of space to them, nothing chic there at all...

GAS - mike ink, wolfgang voight etc..

found the download here http://tontonmahood.blogspot.com/2007/11/experimental-audio-research-koner.html On GAS: anyone else think his tunes just sound atrocious on cd? Normally I prefer vinyl a little, but not so much as to actually dislike a cd copy, but it always seems pretty damn lifeless...

    what are you reading now?

I think Moby Dick may be the only book I've ever read to make me hungry (for clam chowder specifically). Somehow I quit about 2/3 of the way through. Maybe I should pick it up again. Reading the Travels of Marco Polo at the moment. The chapter on Beijing makes it seem quite the modern city...

Really doesn't seem like there was a good reason for this. Hope you return, as I'm pretty sure I'll be reading dissensus less if you're not around.

censorship on dissensus: the disappearance of the confessions thread

Stupidest thread on this site ever? Stelfox: learn to roll your eyes and move on. Nomad: no reason to take your toys home, plenty of people here, myself included, enjoy your posts.

    autechre - quaristice (2008)

I don't know man, it almost seemed malicious. How else can you explain 3 hours of Russell Haswell dj'ing?

    autechre - quaristice (2008)

Hmm, the one time I saw them live was easily the worst set I have ever seen. Nothing really comes close.

    Analord Revisited

I was sortof convinced for a while this was some anti-chicago/detroit black ops by just how bad it is ("that's acid? fuck it then!") Maybe that's a little paranoid though

    Karlheinz Stockhausen RIP

Just got the singcircle version of Stimmung yesterday, about 45 minutes into side 1 I thought "How the hell'd they pack 45 minutes on to one side?" and realized it was on 16rpm. Needless to say, it sounded pretty fucking awesome. RIP indeed.

    The cannabis debate

Salvia vids http://www.random-good-stuff.com/2008/01/24/smoking-salvia-divinorum/ Obviously this isn't going to equate to the actual experience. Fun though.

    Jeff Mills

On a different note, anyone here have Anthony Shakir recommendations? That tune of his on AE's ATP compilation a couple years back was great, but I haven't really been able to dig up anything else by him...

What's Left? - How the left lost its way.

Hmm, good point, but anti-imperialism in the US has always had isolationist undertones. And, part of the problem with (hard) imperialism is that it ultimately just doesn't work very well (this is also a feature), so maybe we should be looking at this as an educational moment. Convincing people...

What's Left? - How the left lost its way.

By this criteria, I think you'd find way more leftists in the US than liberals. The war is hugely unpopular right now; I'd bet immediate withdrawal would get more votes in a referendum than the legalization of gay marriage. Maybe this was your point though.

Maybe he's looking for a relaxation rather than a total reversal? I think that I'm pretty much in total agreement with you though.

    Worth dying for

You added this later, so I'll extend and say that, you know, things can be resistive without being positive. Things like regional racism in the US, religious terrorism, or "going postal" all serve as "resistance mechanisms" in their own contexts, but I don't think that means they need to be...
