This is so on the mark, it's scary. Even if I am not 40.

SEMI HIP 40 YR OLD SELLS CD COLLECTION.

Man, this thread is depressing. Aside from my mediocre teenage taste, I greatly blame the media though. That and the festival/club managers catering to their writings: one vicious circle. That would have taken more courage to write here some years ago.

You surely noticed, but some tracks on Concept Vague are produced by bine☃. He's really someone to watch. THINGS WILL BE BETTER FROM NOW ON has some real gems.

    SeaPunk / Chillwave / Nu gaze / Glo-Fi / Molly Pop / Witch Trap / Special Characters

Could this count as proto-grey/metal&glass/hyper-digital? I notice semi-fast hi-hats, metal/glass-references and texture and quite a present bassline. Somebody should do a refix.

    Running

I guess it very much depends where you run. I fail to see how running your lungs wide open in an urban, smog laden environment is beneficial in any way. I never understood those who do, really.

    Best of 2014

I found quite some good stuff this year actually. Nothing world shattering, but still good and solid: - PC Music: I am late to the party, still there are some gems in there. - Seapunk or metallic grey music (as Adam Harper seems to call it): mainly Dutch. E Germ and Fatima Al Qadiri - Mr...

Is there anybody who likes jazz?

Unfortunately it disappeared from its original source, I don't know why. You can find it though in the Big Book of Woe. Or you can browse Last.fm, as far as I know all albums have been tagged as Woebotjazz.

Is there anybody who likes jazz?

A while ago I used Woebot's list of the 100 best jazz albums to educate myself on the subject. I can really recommend that if you would be looking for a way in. The most surprising inclusion for me was probably Duke Ellington's Ellington Indigos. Not that Duke's place in jazz history is...

    EBM with a B not EDM with a D

I agree, the vocals are pretty awful. Also: their live-presence was very military/goth-like. These ones are maybe closer to what Idlerich might be after: Both are easily found on new beat compilation disks.

    EBM with a B not EDM with a D

Front 242 is probably the sound you're after. As mistersloane was saying though, it's very close to new beat. Here is a genius minimix of original anthems: And here is some more recent interpretation by Night Slugs' Lvis1990: https://soundcloud.com/openingceremony/showtunes-oc-fw14-by-l-vis

    PC Speakers

If the speakers are powered, you connect directly to your speakers. From what you write, though, I presume they are powered by a receiver. In that case you need to connect to the receiver/amplifier through an analog or digital optical cable (depending on how new your receiver is). Mine goes to...

    PC Speakers

If wires are the problem, have you considered grabbing an Airport Express? They cost about as much as a pair of decent pc speakers and you can use them to send the music to any sound installation you want. We use one for the home office and it really beats having shitty little speakers on your desk.

    David Lynch Thread

I am watching Twin Peaks for the first time. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good analysis? As far as I seem to understand for now, almost one season viewed, it's giant parody of both the detective and the soap opera. Not sure if there is more to it and that's what I'd like to know...

    SeaPunk / Chillwave / Nu gaze / Glo-Fi / Molly Pop / Witch Trap / Special Characters

Dunno, I am so far removed from scenes, clubs, etc. that hipness really does not bother me at all. But I can see how it can annoy quickly when confronted with it.
