    Max Weber

Actually, Weber's thesis on capitalism can be viewed as an inversion of classical marxist materialism. Instead of the material basis shaping and determining thought, religion, etc., the roles are inversed. As Mr. Tea said, though, this central hypothesis has never been really proven in a hard...

Thanks for posting, seems fantastic. I saw Haneke's White Ribbon last weekend for the first time. Amazing, even dubbed in Italian.

    Increasing Physical Energy Levels

Not to alarm you unnecessarily, but what you describe sounds like a burn-out. I'd see a doctor. Don't wait years like I did.

    Best Of 2013 Lists

Now that is really the question: was it a terrible musical year or is it just me/us. I'm inclined to blame myself -though not entirely. Anyway, I liked: Juan Atkins & Moritz von Oswald - Borderland Kevin Drumm - Tannenbaum

Would anyone happen to have this list offline somewhere? The original link is down and endless googling led me nowhere. This thread is a proper goldmine, btw.

    150-160 bpm-ish stuff - whatchamacallit

Cooking tips and wonderful flavour combinations

We made a very nice caponata last week, and then this weekend again. It was that good or better: we liked it that much. I don't have the recipe in front of me, but it should be the following: It's best served lukewarm on a piece of roasted bread and tastes even better the day after.

Cooking tips and wonderful flavour combinations

Italian kitchen was never codified as the French. That's why every village (and every family within it) has its own version of most recipes. Best way to discriminate between differing opinions is your own taste and some geographical knowledge: you just don't ask a sicilian how to make polenta...

Re:ragu For the best ragu recipe, head here. The Silver spoon recipe's good, but the cooking time is short (2h min - the ragu should be so dense your spoon can stand up in it). Also not a big fan of mushrooms in ragu. Maybe its more common in southern Italy.
