Forum Leaders - We Are The Mods

I had a chat with Matt recently about helping out around here and it looks like I can now do a bit of moderation. I just moved a thread from "Music" to "Mixes" to prove it. I'm conscious that there should be some accountability on Dissensus and that the moderators should be known, so...

Riddim Magazine - jetzt auf englisch

Germany and France have been spoilt rotten for decent reggae mags for years, and we've had to put up with the odd half column in dance mags or Steve Barker's one page in The Wire every month. No longer! http://www.riddim-mag.com This is just out and is £3.50 with a great cover CD. Nice...

Worship the colossal squid, puny humans!!!

Am I the only one here who saw this in the paper at the weekend has been completely disturbed by (and eerily attracted to) it ever since? An acquaintance had to physically cut the photo out of the paper and send it to her boyfriend to stop her obsessively looking at it and Getting The FEAR...

Do you listen to music while at work?

Ok, this has always fascinated me, cos the last place I worked where we had music on was a cheese factory and it was Radio 1 chart pop all day long - and "Street Tuff" by the Rebel MC was in the charts! There should be a poll with this... hold on...

    How do we help Matt?

Seems like he's now running Dissensus all on his tod. I'm not entirely sure what help he needs, but I would guess at the very least that there should be some discussion of people stepping up and helping with the moderation and ting. I.e. resolving disputes, locking threads, deleting spam/troll...

    blogger's anonymity vs posting photos

I think being relatively anonymous might allow you a certain freedom to develop a persona, and write about subjects you wouldn't normally discuss with family, workmates or even friends (largely because they aren't interested - tho I've just done a post on nazi skinheads that I wouldn't...

    blog comments boxes and spam

Apologies for these practical rather than theoretical threads... (well, not really ;) ) Has anyone found a way around this? I'm using b2 and am thinking of upgrading to Wordpress but it seems like these are peculiarly plagued by spam. Do you use either of these? If so - have you sussed out...

scanning in 12" covers - How do YOU do it?

I'm a bit baffled as to how people do this. Matt Woebot's scans, especially. My scanner is A4, so I could in theory, scan it various parts of the cover and then put it all together in Photoshop, which is like a jigsaw puzzle and takes quite a long time. On the other hand I could take pics of...
