    Great recent r&b gems

R&B is a bit slow at the moment. Mary J's "Be Without You" is big on the radio right now, as well as the Jagged Edge / Biggie collab "Nasty Girl." I haven't heard anything exciting in a bit though. Certainly nothing on par with "1 Thing."

Breezeblock Dubstep Warz on Radio 1

Audio archive here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/dance/breezeblock/ Jeez, I can't believe so few people have something to say about this show. The quality of music was just on a very high level throughout, with an incredible number of previously unheard beats.

Can UK Hip Hop/Grime Blow Up In The States?

I heard Cipha Sound play the Forward riddim on Hot 97 about a year ago. Not even Pow but the one with Kardinal Offishal on it. Let's just say I never heard it again. I'm incredibly curious to hear what Hova has up his sleeves for Lady Sov. If he wasn't involved I would immediately write her off...

    Digi Dub

The union of raver and rasta has always struck me as a fantastic and uniquely British phenomenon. And the musical possibliities therein have contributed to some of the most exciting musical developments in the last 20 years (bleep n bass, jungle/dnb, speed garage, grime/dubstep). There's a very...

    Modern Dub

It just occurred to me that Richard H. Kirk's Sandoz album 'Chant to Jah: Sandoz in Dub' is worth adding to the list of interesting and slept-on new-ish dub records. Also quite dancefloor friendly.

    Modern Dub

There's a few tracks on there that I usually skip, but on the whole it's quality. Very very original use of digital sounds in a dubbed out way. If you loved Bedouin Sound Clash (which, btw, is getting a re-issue and is a completely essential dub record from about 8 yrs ago), then Viagara Opus is...

    Modern Dub

An essential digi-dub record that came out last year was Ladyman aka Badawi's 'Viagra Opus.' Absolutely original new dub business. Also you can't go wrong with Twilight Circus Dub Soundsystem, though that's more in a roots style.
