    Sci-Fi novels

Oh, I didn't know it was so obscure, I just came across it and liked the cover. I did a check on amazon and found a few of them there if it helps: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0380898748/ref=dp_olp_2/002-4252107-0328055?%5Fencoding=UTF8

    Kelis is back

Wow that video is creepy. I love those weird snake skin looking teeth she's wearing. What's the sound in the beat? A harpsichord?

    Sci-Fi novels

Thought I'd bump this thread back into action because I really liked the books I've read as a result of it (Dr Adder/Schismatrix/Concrete Jungle/Xenogenesis 3 + Clay's Ark/Camp Concentration). I want to check out that Vacuum Flowers now too, Schismatrix was pretty strange. Are Sterling's other...

Books you've read recently and would unreservedly recommend

Glad to hear this is good. I bought it in a used store the other day but haven't read it yet.

    METAL! Discuss

I guess the sound made it feel different than just random bar fights. It was making my teeth hurt. I was amazed people would listen to it, I guess that you could hear what was going on buried underneath. It was probably my imagination that it was the frequency causing the fighting, but I like...

    METAL! Discuss

I saw some band the other day called Midnight, just one guy in a gas mask playing guitar with two girls dancing. Kind of 80s thrash inspired I guess, but the backing track had all these horrible high pitch frequencies, like he was going for this old cassette sound, but messing with the mix in...

    Music Mags

I'm glad to hear Scratch is still around. I imagine it's a bit too much like Guitar world or something for most people, but I didn't really know very much about how hip hop producers actually approached things so I found it interesting. I mean I was surprised for instance how much of it is...

    Music Mags

What happened to Scratch? Did any of you guys read it? I bought a few issues and liked it but then I stopped seeing it around and figured it folded. Did it?

    things you have noticed.

I watched a powerline showering explosions of sparks all over the street last night. The street was all wet and there was some sort of weird alarm going off. It was perfect.

new isht... what's got you excited in music lately?

Ah yeah Phase IV! I can't ever get tired of the man vs. ant scene where he's just smashing through all the shelves trying to crush it. There's nothing like it really. It might not even be good, but it just really went as far down a kind of alien path as I can imagine you going. I never even...

    Western Movies

Someone else mentioned it above, but I thought Bullet For The General was really good. I've only seen a few episodes, but I really like the Deadwood program too.

It basically just took a hundred years for comics to become good

I read one issue of Black Hole that someone had, but not enough to understand what was going on. I should give it a proper try. Are there other japanese horror artists that have been translated into english? I really like Hino and Ito's comics but I haven't come across any others aside from...

New Wavers making music for kid's shows

Slightly off topic, but I wondered if any of you guys knew the story on Devo 2.0: http://disney.go.com/disneyrecords/Song-Albums/devo20/

    Blade Runner soundtrack

There was a site that had all the bootleg ones that are in the movie but not on the soundtrack. The one where he's scanning the photo is in there and the strip club music. I can't remember the URL and I didn't make a link but I know they had Lucifer Rising up there as well if that helps the...

    Hauntology

Boyd Rice hasn't been mentioned has he? I think something like "Embers" certainly fits in with this stuff although all his stuff probably fits. Gudrun Gut's "Move Me" deserves mention too I think for something newer. Both songs sound like mutations of traditional sounding things but recorded...

Hey Droid, have you read any of Junji Ito's comics? Specifically GYO and Uzumaki?

    Great recent r&b gems

I really like "Body Kiss" by Black Ops. It's more swampy sounding than the tracks you lsited, a bit like Poppin Tags or something like that, but it's a good one.
