    Sa-Ra "Second Time Around"

Dude I've read ILM archives, I've been on Dissensus awhile, I've heard it all before. This is hardly a shocking pov to me at this point. Its just gotten where I've realized I don't really care about a producer taking his cues from techno/electronica/house. And many producers a lot of folks on...

    Sa-Ra "Second Time Around"

...and I'm saying it's not all shit. What is yr point? Most of the people on dissensus have some degree of familiarity with obscure music. I'm saying that I don't think indie rap, particularly the shit that came out in the late 90s, is deserving of all the bile it recieves.

ewan pearson- sci fi hi fi vol. 1

Yeah both of these are great. To whoever mentioned it above, not sure what's wrong with the last third of the Pearson mix!

    Sa-Ra "Second Time Around"

I can understand why indie rap these days has a bad, er, rap. But there's so much great later-90s underground/indie stuff....I think lambasting it as a genre is totally unfair.

in with a bullet: bun b's trill is my #1 hip hop record of the year

I donno whats so middle of the road about it, I wish ppl would get a bit more specific! I think he's an interesting persona and in a year so clearly about rapper persona vs. production 'scenius' i think its fairly representative (although Jeezy is prob. a better pick for "rap album of 2005.") I...

in with a bullet: bun b's trill is my #1 hip hop record of the year

Not feeling it at all. Before ppl label me an all-out hater though, I do like the new Lil Wayne which I understand is getting mixed responses.

    Clipse

I don't think the lyrics are bankrupt. Certainly they're not that straightforwardly dismissed! I think what I like about them as rappers is the total cold dispassionate approach to lyrics that often speak to incredibly complex and morally provacative questions.

    hip-hop, where to begin?

Yes. I was actually a huge fan of 2pac's when I was 10 or 11, especially loved "I Get Around" (I even had shock g's verse memorized!) and "Dear Mama" and "Keep Your Head up."

    hip-hop, where to begin?

Tupac did get a mention, I was going to echo the sentiments actually. Or maybe that was different rap thread. Biggie is the greatest! He's my favorite for real. Start with Ready to Die although nowadays I think Life After Death is my favorite.

    Dubstep+Crunk+Electro+Broken Beat at once?

I mean I totally endorse taking chances, esp. genre-wise. Don't get me wrong.

    Dubstep+Crunk+Electro+Broken Beat at once?

I like it the way you describe it but I recently went to a club in Chicago where the underlying theme was like "trendy beatz from urban kidz" or something, baile funk - > Miami Bass - > baltimore club - > dirty south hip-hop...it was totally vibeless. I mean, part of it was the DJ just wasn't...
