    best house music post-1992

I asked my friend who likes the West Coast stuff and here's what he said: I dunno man, I had to think about this a little bit because nothing came to me right away. I like all the West Coast stuff I have because a lot of it blends together and nothing really jumps out as a big time classic...

"Day" is a club banger that turned me and many other people on to him. Think Phylyps Trak II with Supremes sample. I like "Inside My Head" also.

    Minimal house anthems

Yeah, Merluche Ideale is a great track. It's like they read my mind. I was relistening to Kevin Saunderson's Deep Space Radio mix and being all upset that I will never find that tune and then find out that it's reissued a couple weeks later. Dobre & Zki totally ran things for a couple years...

Take out the accordion sample and you have a pretty standard minimal track. And there's nothing wrong with the sample either...it's fun. If Villalobos can do it... I fail to be embarassed by it. Total summer tune. You can be running away from melodies all the time. And I love the way the track...

I really like Paul Johnson's "Hear The Music" (but just the track, the rest of the EP sucks). The guy made tons of music but everything else I hear from him is either boring or really minimal tracky stuff. DJ Sneak - Can't Hide From Your Bud Gusto - Disco's Revenge ^--- These are probably the...

I can't stop listening to Samim's "Heater". Also Avus - Furry Hat, but that's more of a trance record.

    The Tuss

But it's copied enough I think to where it's almost a genre in itself. May be I am completely wrong on this but is this not in the same vein as that strain of IDM that's been around since late 90's where it's all busy sounds, fast breaks and random melodies. Except instead of samples you have a...

    The Tuss

It's about the same as the mental fast Analord bits. I don't like it, not my kind of style. There's no melodies or anything to latch on to. For freaked out acid I really like the new Syntheme on Planet Mu. Unfortunately not available in the US.

I really like Minilogue's new Inca/Urubamba EP. Great, restrained acid growling in the background.

I think Meyers is more like trance without the breakdowns.

I have no idea who is responsible for http://www.discogs.com/release/355248 (Pink Noise - Gimme Some More (Energy)) but I love it. It's gotta be someone affilitated with that whole Bones/Musto/Simonelli crew.

Nice hoovers on http://www.discogs.com/release/42744 and a big Ice T sample in the beginning with all the swear words and "take the tape out now".

Dividing a mix into CD tracks

With Audacity you can set a bookmark. After you set a bunch of bookmarks there's some option in the File menu. Something to do with export or something. Basically it will create a bunch of files out of the intervals between bookmarks.

It's not worth $70 for sure. Discogs can be a very bad guide sometimes. I don't think any of the tracks on that EP are considered anthems or anything. A lot of that '91 stuff is really spotty. But nice find anyway.

Isn't "Can You Party" itself a rip off of Marshal Jefferson's "House Music Anthem"?

But you really want to download some sets from the pirates. The compilations and the dj sets just don't have the same hectic flavour and the tracks aren't as raw.
