what kinda vibe are they playing to??
Before this night I guess NYC has had Dizzee on his own, and Mark One & Plasticman played to a Rephlex / techno audience.
Is grime reaching the hip hop crowd or more the electro crowd over there?
I think it's massively unfair to state Rinse are nothing without Roll Deep.
I too am fairly new to all this but there is so much talent on Rinse it's untrue.
Roll Deep
Newham Generals
Ruff Squad
Plasticman
Geeneus
Bossman
Wonder
Slimzee
Rossi B & Luca
Youngsta
Kode 9

Thats...
I can't say I attended all three, I missed FWD but heard it was heavy.
But of the two I attended (Run The Road, DMZ) DMZ totally won.
Anyone who was there will back up how totally amazing this night was. Mala and Loefah B2B felt like reaching a milestone in my musical life!!! It was a real...
Went to the DMZ night last night - wow!
Digital Mystikz played an amazing 2 hour set which totally smashed it!
Was a little disappointed with Plasticman though, the set seemed a bit stop start - although I think it was always going to be difficult having to come on after such an amazing set...
I went to Run The Road - I agree with the comment about MCs/Artists.
A lot of these MC's get a bit too excited - they need to calm down and just realise this is their chance to show they are professionals.
All those reloads on the Roll Deep set were just annoying.
You can get away with it at...
I fell at the first hurdle!
How was FWD last night? Any good?
I should rep @ Run The Road and DMZ though.
P.S. I'm loving the comment on the post above ^^
Does anybody else see the irony!!
I missed this program but just read about it on the BBC website -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/insideldn/insideout/series7/urban_music.shtml
One of my favourite quotes on here...
"Lady Sovereign is one of the leading proponents of the grime scene."
After reading that I'm quite glad I missed...
Oh yeh, also....
Earlier in this topic I mentioned the word Chav to describe Sov - and was totally crucified!
However there was a "chav" program on Sky One the other week and Sov was on the program. She can't be that bothered by the tag if she agreed to be on the program.
I think the reason I dislike Sov so much is that really annoying jamaican accent she uses.
Nothing wrong with her lyrics or flows but just the way they're spoken is really cringe worthy
I think there is definitely a gap in the market - altough the younger generation probably won't pay for the downloads - they'll wait for them to appear on DC++
By grime artists putting up full quality MP3's for official download they are simply making the mp3's more available to possible...
