Heard a different mix of this on Plasticman's show this weekend - really hip hop-esque but still in time with the other grime tracks.
Any idea of a release date on that version?
Big up the people who run this forum. It's fantastic.
(Not being sarcastic at all, this is top class conversation which I always find hard to find online!)
I'm not hating on Sov, I simply think she is not very good.
It's not to do with her background. I know for a fact some of my favourite grime MC's are at university - I don't care if they were born in the gutter or born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
And as for marketing her on her looks -...
Respect - I never meant to make a point of her being working class at all. I probably shouldn't have used the term. I obviously don't understand it's full meaning!
Back to the subject...
I respect people's opinions on this forum - I haven't banished any of the opinions raised on this topic...
Yo don't get me wrong - you guys are writing great articles.
But Sov shouldn't be getting the inches she does - there are far more accomplished people in the grime scene to write about. They just don't have the backing of a great marketing team like sov does.
I have no distaste for working...
I think that the only people who like sov don't really like her, but they've just been reading the press too closely.
It's more than a coincidence that this forum backs her (it's full of journalists and bloggers). When you read the more gritty forums she gets slated all the time (by the youth...
How can anyone look at her face and listen to that Jafaken accent at the same time?
I'm not hating on her at all. I just really feel for the people in grime who are better than her, trying to graft their way through and she's obviously just done nothing to get where she is.
She's not a good...
I would class Plasticman as grime personally.
His sound is much more lively than dubstep (like grime) but it is just more interesting to listen to than most instrumental grime tracks.
However as a DJ i think he plays a lot more Wiley etc. than he does his own stuff so it will be interesting to...
I'm fairly new to grime but even I can understand where Logan comes from.
My first grime experience came thru hearing Plasticman. (After hearing Dizzee of course) Although I never realised there was a whole scene of the stuff.
I've been avidly listening to Rinse FM for the last 2 months or so...
Ok, confused again!
So Plasticman is a grime DJ.....
Isn't FWD a big dubstep rave?
Does Plasticman change his sets to suit the FWD crowd or does he play grime in there too?
What do people think of their productions?
For me some are decent, but a lot of it sounds the same, and most of the mixdowns on the released vinyl are shocking.
What are your opinions on the label / crew?
It's on the 5th March in Brixton @ 3rd Bass (behind mass)
I think the line up is pretty decent, off the top of my head...
Kode 9
Loefah
DMZ
Plasticman
J Da Flex
Skream
I'm sure i'm leaving somebody out but can't think who it is.
That looks like a great lineup to me, is anyone from the forum...
http://grimegame.blogspot.com
A grime fan has decided to try and produce a simple game about grime.
Apparently you will play the role of a club promoter or a record label owner, he's only just started working on it but he's set up this site for input.
Sounds like a good laugh, I hope it happens!
