    Burial "Untrue"

Am I the only one who really loves "Near Dark"? Just haven't seen anyone mention it. Album feels a little bit front loaded to me as well, if only because after "Untrue" the formula seems to loose a bit of steam. Easily my favorite LP I've heard this year so far, though.

    The Death of Oink

considering the evolution of p2p etc I'm not too worried about this. As long as I have slsk as a permanent backup I'll be ready for whatever new service pops up

Not meaning to be patronizing, but, while I enjoy it for nostalgia value, I eventually grew out of it

Your top 5 countries of best music

US and Brazil are an easy 1-2 punch for me. UK a distant third. After that no country specifically stands out (in my listening habits/tastes) as higher than a bunch of others.

[Artist/Group/Scene/Movement] - Eclectic Music or Cultural Imperialism

Yes, most obviously: It's less explicit with say a Fela Kuti or a Jorge Ben though: both arguably marginalized and both shamelessly influenced by American Black Music. They are still culture vultures, but it doesn't have the same effect because the music they are...

[Artist/Group/Scene/Movement] - Eclectic Music or Cultural Imperialism

Plenty of points about appropriation (specifically with regards to "ghetto" beats) that would probably be of interest to this thread were made by me and others here: http://ihatemusic.noquam.com/viewtopic.php?t=6337&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=appropriation&start=0 My main problem with...

    UGK - Undergroudn Kingz

UGK - Underground Kingz Leaked today, finally going to be released on the 7th. I'll probably grab a hardcopy next week, but this rip is sounding great. On one listen through I'm enjoying the hell out of it - much better than the album sampler led me to believe it was going to be. It's no...

    Hyperfrank's Badness homophobia post

Sorry, I was paraphrasing. Ninja, who has rhymed about getting head and killing people, quoted scripture to claim claim that lady saw's promotion of cunt eating would bring us back to the days of sodom and gomorrah. While I don't know the posters in the rwd thread, I couldn't help but feel...

    Hyperfrank's Badness homophobia post

You guys should read Donna Hope's Inna Di Dancehall. It's a very balanced, nuanced take on the relationship between slack lyrics and sexual identity politics in Dancehall lyrics.

lethal bizzle - back to bizznizz

Well, stereotypes are almost all to some degree based in reality, the problem is when they are used to generalize about a population. The stereotype that hip hop and related genres are nothing but guns and bitches is first of all: a stereotype. It's perpetuated by artists who do rhyme about...
