i just listened to the release and it's pretty good. cosby from car crash set posted an early version a while back and it had the lush pretty chords and no vocals for the first half of the track. then the vocals come in and it was like whaaaaa???? but it sounds a lot better w/ the vocal in there...

i agree that hybridization is one way to make an interesting take on a sound - but it's by no means the only way. i find the andrea tracks more interesting than footcrab from a compositional and production point of view. and as far as hybridication it also seems like a super convoluted...

WHOA WHOA WHOA i never claimed the andrea record was "more aunthentic", the person who disagreed w/ me MISINTERPRETED my "watered down" comment. i meant they took out some of the more challenging aspects of juke and smoothed out the rough edges and the andrea tracks didn't pull punches in that...
