    Poor State of Grime

Is hanging out in chatrooms a career then? Posting on forums never paid my bills for me.

Course I could do a cd. I've done about 5 so far. It needs more events though

    Jammer This Friday

I heard Skepta is going to be his hype man. Look out for him shouting out the odd "Salassie I Jah" now and then while Jammer performs the Murkle Man

    Poor State of Grime

Virus definitely make Grime/Dubstep They had a show on Rinse, Mark one has been putting out tunes in the garage scene for years, Plasticman used to produce for them.

    Poor State of Grime

Shill, Shill! Nah, when I say acts aren't Grime acts, that doesn't preclude them from being good, or even stop me from acknowledging that they collaborate with grime artists to make the odd grime tune. But Lady Sovereign, Sway, Klashnekoff, The Mitchells and Skinner aren't really part of the...

    Poor State of Grime

By that line of reasoning, would you say Plan B and Sway were grime artists?

    Lady Sov isn't grime though

It was promoted as being Grime/Garage/"Urban" "Tell us what you call it then...."

    Poor State of Grime

Mix It Up promotions backed every Eskimo Dance financially, Wiley provided the links to the artist and the name/face However after 18 months of events, Eskimo Dance now can't be held in London due to arrests being made at the door of the last event, and a large number of police being recquired...

the mitchell brothers - a breath of fresh attire

They have Kano on a tune. Kano being on the label Mike Skinner is signed to And I've never heard them on a pirate, seen them perform at a grime event and out of all the grime/garage djs I had only ever heard Mac 10 play about 2 of their tracks prior to them being signed to Warner. To me they...

    Poor State of Grime

lol is that a private party? Does Grime have some mystical power to summon hooded denizens of hell to slither from the shadows and start stabbing people left right and centre or something? There was me thinking when you played Eskimo bassmix backwards it just said "Roll Deep".....

    Poor State of Grime

The digital age is fucking over new musical genres. The fact that the "fans" of the music are downloading the music instead of buying it means that the artists have to look outside of the scene for monetary reparations. it doesn't sustain itself. This gives a relatively small scene a major...

    Poor State of Grime

Yes. That's the basic position. The average grassroots grime fan doesn't spend enough money on things that aren't weed or Nike to actually make it profitable. The only thing that really is selling are DVDs, and that's because they are a new novelty. When people get sick of seeing the same thing...

    Poor State of Grime

2 Named DJs playing within a reasonable distance of London would run you £200 a piece. Take your pick from Cameo, Myself, Maximum, Karnage, Mac 10 or Bossman 4 decent MCs to host/spit on said sets would probably run you £150-£250 a piece Various local djs or your mates playing the warm up...

    Poor State of Grime

The people who did LOTD aren't from Grime. And LOTD wouldn't be possible without Jammer. You see what my point is? Someone came in with the money and resources to do something, and someone from the scene provided them with access to the material.

Personally, I make £50 a week from grime. If you know any venues, flyer printers and dj's who I can get all for a monthly budget of £200 I would eagerly await your PM. The only reason we need outside interest from the scene is straight up funding. Nothing more.

    Poor State of Grime

Seems to be slowly becoming acceptable though.... I know that Kiss have really gotten behind the Roll Deep LP. And I am about to start my relentless campaign toget someone to be brave and play Murkle Man in the daytime :D :D

the mitchell brothers - a breath of fresh attire

Skinner and The Mitchells IMO don't make Grime. I think it's just quirky UK Hip Hop which takes influences from other scenes. They don't really play any part in the Grime scene. I don't mind some of their stuff though, I prefer most of the guest appearances though over their actual bars! ie...

    Poor State of Grime

That's the thing with Grime. It's more of a class thing than a race thing. London is such a racially integrated city that, unlike New York, it's just music that young people listen to, not just the blacks or just the whites or asians. At least it has that going for it. Racially harmony through...

    Poor State of Grime

Lots of kids in South London don't really like the grime thing because for some reason they have this idea that it is kiddie music and the real "thugs" make hip hop. In south you have some very serious people who also happen to make music, and the music most of them make is hip hop, but with...
