When people with "Normal Music Taste" ask you what you listen to...

I'd rather say Daft Punk over Basement Jaxx, but maybe that is just me.

When people with "Normal Music Taste" ask you what you listen to...

It seems that no one on here actually has a consistent way of dealing with this. I think i am just going to completely forget trying to explain myself. The next step (i figure) is how to dodge the question once asked. random guy with Franz Ferdinand t-shirt - "so what music do you listen...

When people with "Normal Music Taste" ask you what you listen to...

i realised this when i made the thread. most people on here are probably surrounded by or work with people with similar music tastes. this (and its a good thing) is not a board dominated with students.

When people with "Normal Music Taste" ask you what you listen to...

how do you generally respond to this? I know this seems a bit rude and very stereotypical and is perhaps somewhat stupid but i am just getting tired of trying to explain my music taste to the average punter at uni who is trying to talk about the velvet revolver record etc etc. Previously i...

i wasn't into them because they were retro but more because they were all still around when i first got involved with 'the scene'. i just didn't know that they had been around for that long.

i think hella meddles somewhere between punk(mindset) and indie. voorhees and the haunting(ed) or something from leeds? i know there are a few more. where is narcosis from? i guess they are more metal though.

that list is really spot on and i would say (and as i think believekevin knows) that it is really just the tip of the iceberg for the armies of good hardcore(ish) bands. just to add a few bands, Reversal of Man Hassan I Sabbah Pg. 99 City of Caterpillar His Hero is Gone Limp Wrist Charles...

    old rave footage

this is priceless for someone who was not around during this time. on a side note, the grime scene documenting their art early on is very useful and i think will be appreciated by later generations. not many musical movements have done that and it is very wise that it is being done.

yeah it was probably the worst line-up in the history of ATP. i thought that about spiderland, but i think Neutral Milk Hotel - 'in the aeroplane over the sea' really wins out. i guess that was 1999. not sure though.
