    Solo Piano Pieces

William Basinski has a quite a few albums of solo piano pieces that are looped and left to decay so there its not classical and there are elements of processing for want of a better word but they are truly truly beautiful and eerie. Where to start: Pantelleria, Melancholia and The Garden of...

    burial dj kicks mix

Well, on the eve of DJ Kicks, Burial has ditched his anonymity on his myspace page saying it had become a problem. Its sad that he obviously felt pressurised to do this and quite a brave thing to do. Its ok though, i just checked, the music's still great ;)

    Mercury sucks (2008 redux)

hahaha- Burial is "threatening" one of the music industry's biggest nights. Doesn't that sound like a great comic book story plot? That just sounds awesome!

    A Guy Called Gerald reissues?

For me, BST was the only non-comp jungle lp that truly worked. Timeless had some really DODGY moments and i liked Reprazent but i don't know- i just couldn't love it. I was having a bad time when it came out- living with a bed in a room with nothing else (i had sold everything) and it was the...

    Grace Jones

I've Seen That Face Before is the most spacious piece of futurist dub-camp i ever did hear, the Introducing Miss Jones mix of Slave is just the goddamn greatest but yeah you just can't go wrong with Warm Leatherette or Nightclubbing and Slave is up there too. She does sound like a lost future...

    Mercury sucks (2008 redux)

The MMP awards are a self-congratulatory smug slap-on-the-back for crappy out-of-touch media imbeciles to think that they are still in touch with the odd thing that doesn't get to number one in the album charts. Its the Jools Holland of awards. To make matters worse, Burial is on there-...

Jay-Z is killing off Glastonbury festival

This is more than a fair point but the issue here is a mainstream argument against the attitude of people like gallagher and the ridiculously narrow mindset that indie music is installing across the media. I though the set was ok for what it was- more energetic in the first half, the oasis...

    K.W Jeter

I just polished off Dark Seeker and the Night Man. The first is (kind of) about drugs with very nice phil-dickian reality-melt and the second a kind of extended character study with the 'horror' part taking place much later on which was a nice unexpected turn- i dont think i'm spoiling anything...

    Ramsey Campbell

hahaha yeah- there's something really special about jumble-sale finds. Hungry Moon is incredible really- almost epic in its concerns- apocolyptic but somehow incredibly small and intimate- not an easy thing to pull off by any means. MR James i get for sure- a concern for landscape and what...

    Arthur Russell doco

i've heard really good things about this but i can't remember where. I'm really excited about seeing this but have no idea where i'll catch it in the uk- i love his music so much but either ways, should be an interesting doc as he's such a strange and interesting character.
