    Drum'n'bass 98-99

The only bit that made me laugh came four years later at the very end: "The fights in music journalism are so bitter because the stakes are so low." 😉

    Drum'n'bass 98-99

I've now listened to the whole thing (which had since increased to 77). Some of it was indeed an endurance test – jeez 🫥 – but there's a lot I like(d) and indeed have: 44 (57%) of the tracks in total, 18 of which I posted myself. But I can't believe I didn't include any Krust. What an absolute...

The Republican War on Transgender People, Drag Queens, and Queerness in General

As a supposedly academic text, Byrne's duly went through peer review and was rejected by the publisher for not being "sufficiently serious" – several publishers according to him, which he seems to think makes him heroic or something, instead of just a bellend. But anyway, there's no need to...

The Republican War on Transgender People, Drag Queens, and Queerness in General

I just visit the thread to see if anyone else has anything to say. Once biscuits linked Alex Byrne and Helen Joyce as "evidence", what little interest I had in their argument dissipated completely.

Modern Male Fashion and its consequences

As to which, the M&S women's range isn't exactly exciting either. Just substantially more exciting than the men's. I might have put Topshop or something.

    Keir Starmer

There's nothing magic about taxing the super rich, so that they're just very rich. It just takes political will. But Starmer's increasingly right wing rhetoric does have a point, and it's not to attract the votes of diehard Tories who will never vote for him anyway. It's about reassuring the...

books you've had to stop reading

I can't think of any. I feel almost obliged to finish a book once started. One that did seriously test my resolve was The Sex Revolts, but I finished it anyway. As opposed to all the people who gave it glowing reviews, who presumably had not actually read it.
