Doh! I'm too late, the link has expired. Do you think you might be able to reupload this? [i don't know if you've used it, but megaupload.com is quite fast at uploading, and the links seem to stay around forever]

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Earlier today I was driving south down Kingsland Road, on my way to Bethnal Green. At the bottom of Kingsland Road I saw this chap on the walking along, just outside that Jaguar Shoes bar thingy. Never guess who it was... Wiley! Unfortunately I had my car radio nicked last week, so I...

www.myspace.com/nushapemusic Although it says on there "nushape is a genre", really just seems more like a uk 'urban' record label. Terms such as 8bar etc were used when nobody new what the heck this music was called, when we were just describing the sound of tracks and styles in reference to...

DUBSTEP- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Not a word of a lie. There were some really weird party/kidnap scenes through the last 30mins or so, and pretty much all of them contained dubstep tunes. Their use suceeded in heightening the sense of fear and dread, rastafari!

DUBSTEP- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Woah! Big up UFO, great that you have STHoldings doing the distribution. Those tunes are excellent, the swing vibe is me to a tea. Did anyone see tonight's episode of Skins on E4? There were a lorry load of dubstep tunes featured in it (episode 8).

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Has anyone checked out the grime wiki page? It's a bit of a shambles. Surely people on here could have a go at cleaning up some of it. "Due to its experimental nature and diverse stylistic influences, artists involved in the grime scene initially resisted attempts to classify or pigeonhole the...

    Reynolds' Pazz & Jopp essay

Weren't Death just swell. I think "Human" has to be my favourite, although I love the two immediately after it as well. As for Slayer, after "Reign in Blood", I always rated "Divine Intervention" as my favourite - I think Paul Bostaph was excellent on the drums on that disc, and I find it much...

the slow decline of berwick street record shops [was: reckless records]

Woah, that's pretty bad news. I'm presuming that sales must have dropped over the last few years essentially because of the internet - discogs.com, ebay, other rare records sites that are easier to search through than thousands of bits of vinyl. That is a shame, I've had some real goodies from...

    Mice

Aargh the little mousey blighters! They've been rustling around somewhere in the cavity of the ceiling of my house for months. We put one type of poison down but they seemed to completely ignore that. We did manage to catch one that had found his way into a plastic bag containing flour - it was...

You can see his point. Whether he sticks to it, and just makes beats, hmm... Anyway, Jay-Z retired a couple of years ago, then he brought a new album out. Could just be hype for his new LP.

Sounds, effects, instruments that sound great for a bit but then sound passé very qui

Agreed! Ben Daglish, Martin Galway, Rob Hubbard, David Whittaker, Jeroen Tel and Chris Hülsbeck were consumate composing masters. LOADS of C64 tunes SID plug-in for Winamp

DUBSTEP+GRIME MIX + fresh Macabre Unit bits!

Thanks for this - I give it a listen later. Very eager to hear the Macabre bits - Nines is the unsung hero of grime production imo. Slow Jam, It's All About, Sense, Tensor Jam, Dem Na Ready Yet, Zodiac... absolute classics.

    Where is Kodwo?

He also used write for Melody Maker in the mid90s, often in the Orbit dance music section. His jungle 12" reviews, along with Reynolds', were always excellent.

Darkfloor - electrohouse mix - Manikk & Ach!

Thanks for the comments! I think I know what you mean about the blendy thing - more succinct mixes needed perhaps. I find both Dahlbäck and Bodzin to be incredibly good at functionality; their tracks generally run like clockwork. They also seem to release tonnes of stuff - probably allowing...

Check Scoobe's myspace. He's on fire, new beats and bars every week. There's a new track he's done with a Polish MC - now if that's not representing London's real underground I don't know what is.
