    The meaning of "funky house"

You never know!! Though I think that'll happen only if "new 'ardkore" borns. It seems that new nuum mutations are always from black music, but psytrance is white. 'Ardkore sampled from belgian rave which was white, so maybe the new one takes influences from hardhouse, hardstyle, nu-style gabber...

    The meaning of "funky house"

We should start a "Don't fear the cheese-movement" I think house as it's strongest is just pure vibe, pure athmosphere, where the beats becomes secondary, and it's all about the big picture. It's like house's attitude is about long varying tracks, combined with percussive dj-tools. I'm...

    Dubstep

Just locked to Whilstla's show, and it's been all garage-beats. It's like dubstep is really starting to have it's own division for garage-sound. Hopefully something new spawns out from it. Though one thing bothers me, this stuff lacks grit...

    Funky/London/UK House

To continue the offtopic, the classic problem of "not being able to play too quiet tracks because otherwise you have to gain it into red area", would be solved simply by gaining up the systems volume, and putting loud overcompressed tracks down in dj mixer. Though then their flatness would be...

    Dubstep

I think it's also about how the CD is mastered. Maybe CD needs different mastering to avoid that harshness and metallic sound. You might never get that vinyl warmth, but sure you can do something.

    Funky/London/UK House

"I enjoy elements of the Grime (I used to play it!!) but sometimes I hear a tune labelled as 'Funky' and it is clearly 'Grime'." http://ukfunky.free-forums.org/can-grime-call-house-a-home-vt1131.html Yesterday I listened to Jason H who plays minimal, and there were one UK tune too. A...

http://rinsefm.blogspot.com/2008/11/zinc-november-house-mix.html Zinc going fidget/electro house? Would be very interesting to hear his own take on that! Also a question comes to my mind is this a symptom of getting old, lowering bpms... Isn't it old house heads attitude about how it all comes...

Turn Me Up! (a soloution to the inevitable loudness war?)

In this thread there's pleasing writing about how one of the djs don't play tunes if they are too loud. It's so delightful to read that, when the general practice with djs is the opposite way, not playing tunes which are too quiet...

What's the problem everybody has with African Warrior's vocals? I like them. Donae'o is way better singer than other funky singers.

Producers: presets or four days perfecting a snare?

Recently I'v been making things this way: First I start from the scratch, using quite much energy to sound design (alongside composition) and maybe to a bit mixing, creating a good sound palette. Then I start a new track (maybe even before the first one isn't finished yet) from the existing one...
