There should be different between the formula jumpup music and "outlandish jumpup". Because the latter one, hardcore music, which is made for maximum dancefloor usage whilst being unconsciosly very experimental ('ardkore, early 00's grime, kuduro, baile funk), is kind of functionally creating...

    Dubstep

I really haven't never liked reggae/dub reggae-dubstep, but this is cool. The problem with this kind of dubstep is, that it sounds too much reggae, not really having that unique mark what dubstep haves. But these garage-drums and that high pitch hoover makes it different to cheap...

    Dubstep

I think nobody can't completely escape from that. But it's good to make occasional questions for yourself "Am I making this because I like it so much or why...". I really don't feel that I belong to Finnish dubstep scene, I feel having only a little common with people there. Just a moment ago...

    Funky/London/UK House

Some funky tunes are melancholic actually, which I like. Brings also some variation.

Slim, Yeah I also think that there's alot of faux-deep tunes out... About the genre names and such: If I'd had to organize a dubstep night, I wouldn't do just dubstep night, but also add "heavily dubstep incluenced stuff" in the flyer. This way dj's wouldn't have any pressure to play...

    Dubstep

I made a thread in DSF about this kind of black and whiteness (it was also about dance music in general), but it didn't got any proper discussion going on. Dunno then if it was because I wasn't able to express my thoughs good enough... Too much tastefulness can be a very big restriction. I...

    Dubstep

Offtopic: I think these UK music styles, jungle, garage, dubstep, grime and funky are all the quite same music at the end of the day... They all has same kind of basslines (grime and funky being a bit expections whit their platic square basses, though funky seems to have lot of pure sine subs)...

    2008 tips/predictions/hopes

Over a half of 08' has gone now. So, how is your predictions/hopes come true? Here's some of mine: Has actualized well :) Has actualized quite well too :) I haven't heard much of this stuff recently... I must search some producers Myspaces, people like Dj Klassics and Morph. Does anyone know is...

    Funky/London/UK House

Maybe you could have a go in my no delay/reverb-challenge at dubstepforum? Anyone else? I think it's a common thing to hide a loss of content with reverb/delay. Though this kind of "challenge" maybe hit me personally so much, because lately I'v been using so much reverb (I like big hall...

New Trends using Old Ideas - moving forward?

About funky and innovation: At the end of the day, also dubstep wasn't that innovative at it's beginning. You could ask that what's so groundbreaking with dark garage - isn't it just 2step but darker? However, we know how the sound evolved when time moved on.
