We "nearly won" to the extent that we very well could have won if the right had been willing to "make an accommodation with the compromises needed to become an attractive, electable party". Instead, they hoped we'd lose. Which, as you say, we did.

Corbyn, sure. He's gone. He only matters now to the extent that we will NOT allow him to be thrown under the bus. Even if it'd have been better if he'd just kept his mouth shut. Bullshit. It's always the left that ends up making compromises. Corbyn's first shadow cabinet was "broad church"...

Massive shitshow: yes. Depressing: yes. Tide going out on Corbynism: no, because there never was such a thing. It's all just democratic socialism, which is supported by a huge proportion of the membership, along with left wing unions and a sizeable faction of MPs, who are not going away any time...

Nor me. Even discounting all the voter suppression and other fraudulent crap the Republicans are engaged in. Yes, the polls put Biden consistently ahead, but I think it's quite likely a lot of people are lying to pollsters, being ashamed of voting Trump but intending to vote Trump anyway.

Not just pissed in the pub either. People can make you angry anywhere, by what they say on TV, write in a newspaper, post on social media, or whatever. Before you'd either have to suck it up or inflict it on whoever else happens to be around. Now you can go and shout at the offenders directly...
