I've heard that Green's confidence has been raised again after not being beaten once in training since the first game - apparently Capello has decided that it's time for Heskey and he to start training with the rest of the squad again.

do you think Capello will stick w the same formation against Algeria?

OK Barry looks like a shoo-in, but perhaps the same formation then?

4-2-3-1 is surely the way forward when it's on the line.

yeah.

looks like it's Heskey again.

just read that the N Korean state broadcaster is showing games, but a day later, and that some Asia-Pacific TV company gave them the Brazil game.

no doubt the interludes (i don't suppose they have ad breaks) are full of the dangers of capitalism.

go Chile!

But (if you ask Capello) it is 4-2-3-1 once Barry's fit. Heskey up top, Gerrard left, Rooney central and Lennon right, all behing Emile. Was 4-4-2 on Saturday, granted, but in qualifiers Gerrard wasn't really a winger as such.

ooh Salas and Zamorano, mouth-watering.

well, unless Suisse have radically changed in two years (i didn't pay attention to their matches in qualification) i'll certainly be hoping Chile break them down (sure they probably can), they well deserve a berth after that.

ah yes. i am rather hoping the 2 will be Barry and Lamps and the 3 J Cole, Stevie and Lennon, and Roonaldo the 1, but, yes, you are right there.

South African police have arrested the organisers of the ambush marketing stunt that led to 36 women dressed in orange to promote a Dutch brewery being ejected from Soccer City earlier this week....

So-called ambush marketing is a criminal offence in South Africa and Fifa has historically taken a tough stance against any rival sponsors that threaten its lucrative business model.

Robbie to be hauled before Big Blatter and asked to explain his illegal alien brand-smuggling scam? I'd like to think he did it as a protest and not just for the $$$

Mick Mc has just worked out that Spain's game is a bit more intricate than just slinging over crosses for a couple of big centre forwards

Darned cockwombles.
this world cup is shaping up to be the most bollocks event in the history of events.

problem again for any team coming into a WC on such a great record as Spain's, is that they haven't been tested enough in adversity. and any team seeking to win the WC has to have huge skills of recovery. They're learning on the job now...
