I had a dream from early childhood where I was locked in the house and a chimpanzee was following me around the perimeter and making kissie faces through the windows. I was deeply afraid but didn't know exactly why, and it wasn't until years later that my fear was coming from a preconscious understanding of rape, despite not knowing what that was at the time I had the dream.
Oh shit excuse me it was an orangutan not a chimpanzee
was going to make a lengthy post in this thread about recurring characters in dreams, and more generally our ability to invent (discover?) complex longterm relationships to people, places, and things all within just a single dream.
but right now i’m pressed with a more urgent question… what does it mean if a character from someone’s dreams enters real life?
watch your back, limburger!
The dream diary thing's also supposed to be helpful when it comes to inducing lucid dreams. I remember reading there are certain things to look for to work out whether or not you're dreaming, stuff like flicking light switches and it not changing the light and looking at clocks and the hands just going round or there not being any particular time shown.
I've never had a lucid dream and I'm scared to. I worry that since you go to sleep, dream and wake up seemingly without being in control that if you take control of the dream then you might not know how to get yourself back out of it the way your mind/body instinctively does.
