This is one of my favourite garage tunes, I tried to look for other things by him (Trevor T) on youtube but there's not much.

Surely you meant this?

yeah i can't / won't decide.

also..

Ah yes, just checked these lot out on discogs and see that DJ Deller was in them. AKA D.C. Sensation who made beasts like this:

i didn't realise this either, i really like deller's stuff. romantic call is an obvious one but a total percy.

Cole's stock appears to be rising again by dint of who he hangs out with now. My favorite Cole tunes are actually from about 2000: "crazy love" and it's dub, and the y2k dub of "sincere" especially.

Do you really think its because of who he hangs out with?
Not that there is anything wrong with him a Wiley pairing up.

Most of the Ramsey and Fen is great, all bug stuff and VIP is one of my favourite labels.
And the prolific tunes are just so slick.

bare BARE BONES
Didn't realise Box Clever was MJ Cole that's a good record that.
Looking on Discogs he also released some Breakbeat under the alias Teddy Tinkleman

So its Wookie, Dem 2, Steve Gurley and Groove Chronicles/El-B all neck and neck! Had a feeling this might happen. The talent on that list is fucking unbelievable.

Nah I'm kidding. But time was that people would dismiss Cole as too slick.

Ha ha, just read an old MJ Cole interview where he was asked who he'd most like to work with. You know what he said?

...Dido.

Surely garage is one of the few underground dance genres in which slickness is prized/coveted? 'Sincere' and 'Crazy Love' are amazing. Love this too

thanks to Oneman for putting me onto this years back.

Well he's clearly paying for that faux pas on dissensus now isn't he...

I reckon he was the slickest of all but had plenty of rudeness on the other side of the plate if that wasn't your thing.

Edit: Like corpsey said, surely the slickness in those tunes was the best reflection of garage in 99/00.
All swing and bling as Blackdown would say.

Isn't it funny that your heroes are often into shit music?

edit: like all those hip hop people who cite Phil Collins as an influence?!?

Do not read this.

by far my favourite MJ track, alongside sincere. This is the definition of slick. I love that first drop into the alien sounding pad, great work. Timeless track. Run this one on the regs

(told myself I wouldn't post in this thread, nuts)
