bullshit
hating on it because it's popular and crossed over into different scenes
slinkier and funkier than any trance and also more that the tune you posted to me in response which also sounds more like the kind of music I would hear out at meat markets more than a place where people actually cared what was playing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meet_market

to be fair I don't actually hate it, I was just exagerrating. What it is though is the unquantised nature of it makes it sound a bit laggy.

there are very few things I genuinely hate, psytrance is one of them.

That's what made it kind of a dancefloor relief when a DJ would drop it after you been battered by hard, pounding, big ravey sounds.
The sort of swingy nature of it loosened things up again.

I get that but I prefer the skippy drums of garage. Must be the Londoner in me.

in general I think raising the quantise function on the drumtrack works better than on synth solos. unless you're going into more dubbier territory, then it can work. where the beats aren't so straight four to the floor.

I think this is a UK vs American thing though. We disliked buffalo Gals over here on principle. Too 80s version centrist dad.

@luka is right that we can be more excessive than the Yanks but there's also a kind of 1920s charleston excess the americans love which sounds sort of camp and twee to our ears.

I'm not taking sides here often the UK vogue for sophistication can land you in conservative waters like when all the soul boys went to a miami music conference and were like why aren't you mixing jazz funk at Paradise Garage lol.
