Seems to me that cheapness was somehow essential to grime's spirit in its golden era. The way it was made on fruity loops (and playstation?), the way it was played on pirate radio, the way it was filmed. That sort of DIY spirit. Of course, nowadays DIY can be really slick.

damn I wenrt for a pint in deptford a couple weeks before the 2nd lockdown and there was pure rollage going on next door @ the mentioned discworld.
seems like people just hang out there, not really buy discs, seems to be a good spot
