He does seem like someone who will live to be 112 though. He doesnt seem frail and doddery. Hes still dominating everyone around him.

They'll keep him alive entombed in a golden throne like the emperor in 40k.

This stuff is so fucking weird. When you hear this it's hard not to conclude that he's deeply mentally sick... I mean is this really true?

Donald Trump had a fiery phone call with Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen over his demands to buy Greenland, according to senior European officials. Speaking to the Financial Times, officials said that Trump, then still president-elect, spoke with Frederiksen for 45 minutes last week, during which he was described to be aggressive and confrontational about Frederiksen’s refusal to sell Greenland to the US.
The Financial Times reports that according to five current and former senior European officials who were briefed on the call, the conversation “was horrendous”. One person said: “He was very firm. It was a cold shower. Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious and potentially very dangerous.”

the revolution is here, i was watching him live on FOX for an hour in LA in a conference room talking about his plans to revolutionize FEMA, saying all the things that more careful deliberate politicians won't say. sycophants backing him up. one official tried to argue back and he got pummeled. the new world is being born it is totally obvious, the great and the good tried to hold back the tide but they lost in the end. there's a thrill in the revolution it's what we all wanted to see for years and years the falling away of the old ways that weren't working for us. but we wanted someone we could trust to do the right thing and who was on our side. we got the exact opposite.

But you're right it is sort of thrilling. it's nuts, what's gonna happen? I dunno but could be anything - change the constitution, invade Greenland, make it illegal to watch CNN.... anything is possible.

you see a lot of these sudden changes in the basic parameters. it just happened in syria and it happened in afghanistan a few years ago. it happened for covid as well. it's the same feeling as you get from watching apocalypse movies, the rules have dramatically changed. the same rules that underpinned the old order also held us in place in our lives and now the possibilities have opened up, good and bad

at the back of your mind there's the possibility of suffering coming up. we are used to the suffering that the usual order that we just lived through produced. but the shift in possibilities particularly the end of respect to the post-war norms of human rights and democracy could produce new kinds and distributions of suffering

Buying greenland isnt mad its very sensible
I knew you were gonna say that. Either you or MB. But the mad bit isn't so much that as the thinking that Denmark are somehow being unreasonable by saying no and then threatening them,.

Yeah and a lot of people haven't realised that. There's an article in the Guardian today about Trump's latest lies and I really find it hard to believe that they are still writing about that. I mean that's just the way it is now.

one of the functions of the guardian is to comfort its readership i think, whether the people who write for it and the readership know it or not
