I was talking to someone about this yesterday, who seems to know more about it than me, he said the purpose of buying Greenland is that it has untapped mineral wealth.

one of the great success stories of the last 25 years is the stability of the western hemisphere i think. there are the drugs wars in central america of course, and thing thing that's going on it haiti. but it's a peaceful and democratic corner of the world comparatively, especially compared to how it was. speaking from a position of ignorance but that's how it looks

Are you suggesting that that's coming to an end?
i don't think so but i'm in no position to say anything really. the US using military against denmark is so off the wall it's hard to comprehend really. NATO on NATO. i guess i believe its all posturing

I mean tariffs or financial attacks seem completely off the wall crazy, but actual fucking military... surely not, surely, it's not possible is it? Is it...

BREAKING: Canada is planning to fight back against Trump’s tariffs by cutting off all energy supplies to the U.S. in February

Meanwhile

Tom Høyem, Denmark’s representative to Greenland between 1982 and 1987, also said that if Denmark were to sell Greenland, it would have to give the UK first refusal under the 1917 agreement.
The British government at that time demanded it should have the first right to buy Greenland, because of the island’s proximity to Canada, then a British dominion.

What are the Danes going to do? Cite claims of runes found in Oklahoma as evidence of prior settlement and parachute in? Take up arms and revert to boating, raping and pillaging, this time up/down the US east coast?

I think there's perhaps an element of it being a flex he feels he can't back down from because of all the pushback. It undermines his whole thing if he can't bully a country like Denmark into submission.

That's kinda true. I find it amazing that he still loves doing his long rambling speeches and stuff like that. Crazy energy. But at the same time it's completely artificial, he's propped up by drugs and without them he looks lost and frail... so he could live to 150 or his heart could explode tomorrow.
All elderly people enjoy delivering long rambling speeches, even if no-one's listening. As for the drugs, I wouldn't generalise from 1 example.
