I actually kinda think it is what healthy democracy looks like... Plus I'm never surprised by this sort of crack-down, because all it takes is a couple violent loonies with agendas of their own to escalate an otherwise peaceful protest, thus legally justifying the deployment of state force.

I would be a lot more worried if I thought right-wing culture drastically outweighed left-wing culture, or vice versa for that matter. These all just seem like cultural vacillations, pendulum swings, etc.

How much more drastically do things have to get outweighed?!
The right has been chipping away at everything for decades and now people are being deported without due process.

In greater seriousness though, yes this is all quite disturbing. Mostly because it seems easy to fabricate escalation in these protests.
