after making things even more expensive to buy with the tariffs, causing the stock market to crash, and now many people potentially not getting their checks from social security due to administrative collapse that might be coming - making it impossible for some people to buy anything or even have the resources to live, he will surely go down as the most popular president in history

administrative collapse in social security will be even harder on those of us that are disabled because they have to do quasi-routine "checking in" with us which, at times, requires tons of paperwork

As for prices, the concept you're looking for "real prices" i.e. how buyable something is for someone. Tariffs should make those goods more expensive but should also increase purchases of US goods, making Americans richer. Same thing applies to the stock market. Prices may rise but if the stock market rises a lot of people will be better able to afford those prices.

In a trivial sense, Trump could fix things so that prices are lower e.g. by renorming the dollar or printing lots of money but I don't think he's planning to do that, even though that would superficially fulfil his lower prices "promise".

That's the exact opposite of what happens with tariffs, they almost always make everyone poorer. And the stock market dropped like a stone the second he announced them.

Trump has no idea about economics and neither do you.
