Twitter consensus is theyre trying to precipitate regime change
turn it into another iraq/syria/libya, the entire middle east will then consist of either vassal states of the usa or countries aligned with their interests with the exception of yemen i guess. israel will then be free to carry out their greater israel plan.

i'm not an expert on iran at all. but regime change in theory could be a very positive thing. but it's very unpredictable and who knows - actually no one knows - what will come next. it can always get worse. worst case is a civil war. that is a very bad worst case. so if that's what they are going for, they are rolling the dice. but of course maybe they just don't care and are only interested in disempowering thier foe

Maybe there's a practical explanation for it, but saw someone yesterday saying it's "interesting" they can get at these guys in Iran with almost pinpoint accuracy from over a thousand miles away yet next door in Gaza they claim the best they can do is to just destroy everything in sight to get at Hamas...
They're underground.

The principle aim is to reduce the nuclear threat.

Some of the more conspiratorially minded are anticipating some sort of false flag to get a majority of Americans behind another war.

You can’t put it past anyone these days as bizarre behavior in normalized.
There’s no need though. The U.S. has been an enthusiastic supporter of ever phsycotic move Israel makes.

Maybe, but there are a lot of people on the Republican side who genuinely seemed to believe Trump when he campaigned on no more foreign wars and who are adamant about not being dragged into another. The Tucker Carlson contingent of the MAGA thing.

Was it ever really "no more wars", though, or just "no more wars that antagonise Russia and Russian interests"? If there have been any right-wing demands that the US withdraw support for Israel or cease involvement in Yemen, I haven’t head them.

Maybe Russia's a factor with Carlson in particular, but the gist of it seems to be that there are lots of right wingers who don't want a repeat of Iraq and Afghanistan, i.e. getting pulled into something big which requires direct American involvement and could go on for years and years.
