butterz did the thing of repackaging grime as garage. they managed to make it tenable for garage revivalists.

from there you get your flava d's and so forth.

"Instrumental Grime Culture" predated them but there was most certainly an issue where they took great pride in avoiding contact with MCs outside of the rare exceptions such as P or Trim. Not a BAD Decision but one that had consequences because it was reminiscent of the eternal war in dubstep to get rid of "guys talking over my favorite song I didn't pay for but ripped from sets I downloaded on the internet".

and unfortunatly that notion of grime being "punk" or having punkish qualities is the thing white dons latched onto HARD,reminds me of when bespectacled lads named Todd would feel they had to bring up Jim Thompson to talk about why the Clipse were good.

I keep remembering how so many Dizzee interviews for US in the US or even for Giggs involves them reflecting on Black Americans saying "Oh I didn't know they had black people there." and the small rage they have to suppress. That sense of invalidity.

also let me just be the one to mention how fucking dissapointing Icekid has been overall, all that potential and i think its safe to say the highlight of his career was that freestyle he did with big head Chipmunk on the "Grimes not dead" dvd

The variability in quality of Flow Dan's put on Yardie vox is fascinating to hear over the course of the years. All his bizarre tics and affectations.

also gotta add that im AMAZED that Killa P is still doing tunes at a relentless rate always liked him but at a certain point i just heard him on sets far too much

doneo's a whole universe all of his own. what he does doesn't impact the real world. like a multiverse superman or something, he doesn't change the continuity.

IDK if you even can count Donae'o because he's been written out of things and had to force his relevance back based on his successes elsewhere. There's def. a period of Grime's audience where nobody knew they should care who Donae'o was.
