actually I think the renoise default is 150. must have decided 130 "sounded better" at some point bc I'm an unwitting pawn in the homogenization of music

Pro tip, make your default tempo something silly. That way everytime you start a new track you have to decide on a tempo. I never do this.

I'm curious as to how many who make music at 130 even think about tempo at this point. It must be unconscious for a lot of them, the DAW forever set to the only tempo that matters. It probably doesn't even factor in as an area in which a decision needs to be made.

He was very careful to avoid meeting any of the lads when he came to London too but some people are like that. Corpsey has rigidly refused to meet any of us on here despite years and years of pleading, begging, etc

There was that Zach Efron film We Are Your Friends where he's some major dj in the states. Never saw it but did see the trailer and there's a bit where he's explaining the art of djing to someone and he says 127 is the golden tempo. I think this type of info gets passed around on dj forums and most just go with it without even bothering to question it. If it works why take a risk with something else?

I half-seriously considered wandering along the Thames last week to find you and ask you to write a poem for us, then pondered if I'd introduce myself or remain anonymous. I'm still not sure, sometimes it's better not to meet your heroes. the whole idea got chucked when I realized my wife might think it was a bit weird to seek out some guy I chat with on the internet.

There's different points of view. Me personally I find it less weird to meet people. I mean, given I spend my whole life with them. I've met and the enjoyed the company of people I've clashed with consistently and explosively online loads of times, tea, droid, padraigs. I think it's pretty fun meeting people you've interacted with for years on a more or less daily basis.

Some people, like corpse, have a very strict dividing line between real life and online. No mixing. Online people stay on the screen. I'm pretty much the opposite since the blog days when I organised walks, little day trips for the freaks. Get them out the house. Sufi, woebot, Craner, k-punk, tell them all to make packed lunches and follow me.
